Last night I found Boxer breeders on Ebay. So I emailed them. One responded this morning, and we sent emails back and forth. then I got curious and googled the name of her kennel. The first thing that popped up was in 2010 she was accused of running a puppy mill. The local news for that area reported on it and I found the video. I was disgusted at the living conditions of the puppies..and I instantly said " NO WAY" . If I could afford to, I would buy everyone from her and save them..every thing was absolutely deplorable. My heart ached for all the dogs in her possession. She claimed to not be a puppy mill, however, You can not have that many dogs and not be one. They were housed outside in hand made, rickety cages. I wanted to cry.
Then I found our local Boxer Rescue. My heart began to melt, I said the heck with it and I filled out an application.
They have this baby there she is around 10 weeks old, her sister has all ready been adopted. So I am hoping she is still available. If not, then there are a couple of others around the 1-2 year range, that we could possible give a home too. There are fees for adoption, they do like to come meet with you prior to placement, but that is expected. I would rather give our money to help save a life and benefit a worthy cause then to a two bit breeder who is in it for the money..
My fingers are crossed and my prayers have been said that we can rescue one of the babies. We have a lot of love to give, and Ruger would love a play mate. NW has already came up with names : "Rossi" or "Liberty" after our new safe. : )

She's a cutie!
ReplyDeleteI know...I hope it all works out in the end.
DeleteI hope you get the puppy and good for you not buying from a puppy mill. I didn't know what puppy mills were until I was on the hunt for a dog. I cried for four days straight just looking at pictures on the internet. Then on Mothers Day six years ago we went to look at a Shipoo. The second we pulled up my husband said "your at a puppy mill" I thought no way this can't be one. Well long story short, it sure the hell was! The puppy wasn't what I was looking for (she is now the love of my life) but I bought her for less than they wanted. My heart was in my throat and I couldn't leave her there. I cried all the way home and for three days after I got her. I tried to have them put out of business but they were out of everyone's jurisdiction! She had the hugest tick on her (I thought it was a tumor), double ear infections, worms, broken tail, and an umbilical hernia. Oh, food allergies and asthma too LOL! My vet said she would be a horrible dog, but she is the best dog I have ever had and will probally ever have in my entire life. Puppy Mills make me sick and I'm so glad your adopting instead of buying. I had looked at adopting but never found the dog I wanted, I guess I was supposed to have LuLu the farm dog ☺ I hope you find your perfect dog ☺
ReplyDeleteI hope we do too. the more I look at her, the more I love her. Adopting from them is going to be a process though. But I believe in the end, its the best thing to do.
DeleteMy first thought that the ebay breeder was a mill was because she had a reverse brindle boxer female, for only 450.00. I know that seems like alot. But every other breeder I have seen one at wants atlest 800.00 or more. So for her to sell them that cheap, she must pump them out. Then I got curious and googled her Kennel name, and the very first link that that popped up was about a former worker that quit and reported them to the authorities. The local news did the story, and it was horrible. One of the complaints was as I guessed, she breeds females at a young age.. I can't stand to see these places, they too make me sick. I see these people at farmers markets and etc...I just want to shut them down...terrible what they put animals through.
You know Kelly, a pets love is unconditional...your dog knows the love you gave her and the care that was involved..that is why she loves you so much. you did not just throw her away, she pays you back through her companionship and loyalty.
opps.. Meant Flea Markets...Not farmers markets..lol
DeleteI was thinking what kind of farmers market do you go to LOL! I adore fur babies and can't imagine life without LuLu :)
DeleteWe adopted a 2 year old Bichon 17 years ago. He was the Marines companion for almost 15 years and someone stole him. I doubt that he is still alive but I have hoped that he found a good home. I think rescue dogs are most loyal to their new family and that little girl is such a cutie. If this adoption does not work out I am sure something better is waiting for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to get the puppy. I know you will give him a loving home.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you report her? She may have been told to not raise dogs and is trying to stay under the radar. I would report her very soon.
ReplyDeleteShe's cute!! I do hope you get her! I like that they have a process of screening though! One of the points in our decision not to have Koda used for bredding, even though he comes from champion lines, was not knowing who the pups might go to, so it is good to see that screening of rescued dogs like this happens!
