Our Area Had A Visitor...

First let me say to all our friends and family in the Mid-Atlantic and up to the Northeast...Thoughts and prayers are with you all tonight as you endure this hurricane. Stay safe....

After our garage sale on Saturday I found out from the boys former kindergarten teacher that Congressman Ryan would be making a campaign stop in our area today. I was "over the moon" excited, this was huge news for our area, no one famous ever comes here and I did not want to miss the opportunity.
Senior said I could keep the boys out of school, so they could attend. I wanted them to see Mr. Ryan and be a witness to some local history. I was happy and proud to pull the boys out of school today because not only does this affect my generation, but theirs as well....

We went through the gates around 11:45, Ryan was not due to speak until 2pm. But we went with friends and they boys had another little girl to play and chase around. I was pretty proud of both boys, they sat on a blanket and for having to wait 2 hours, they behaved very well.

After listening to several local politicans, it was finally time for the Congressman to come out on stage :

 

He first spoke about the hurricane, and concern for the folks up north. The campaign is dispatching buses to be loaded with relief supplies, and sending them in to the hard hit areas after the danger has passed. He also spoke about our local military and the impact it has. He looked across the crowd, and you felt like he was talking directly to you. He acknowledged all the children there with parents, and reminded us how the current administration is leaving them this mountain of debt. The message he spoke resonated with all of us in attendance. At the end, our applaud was loud and thunderous.

 



I have been very fortuante over the years to get to see in person our elected officials, in 1988 as a high school senior I got to see Ronald Reagan, then in 2003 George W. Bush came to one of the military bases and spoke. And now today, I can say and so can my children that we got to see Paul Ryan the next Vice President.

What is it with us Blogger Girls ?

Ick! I am feeling my good Friend Kymbers pain today. Headache, cramps...ick! not feeling good at all. My monthly moon phase is at her peak . Here it is 12:30, I am still in my jammies, and so are the boys. Even our poor puppy Ruger is feeling under the weather, I think he ate something out in the yard, because he came in yacking. So he is resting in his cage.
I am not going to complain to much about it.  Because, happy for today and not next weekend during our camping trip, which also happens to be the weekend before Senior and Mines 18 year anniversary.   : )

 The dark clouds have left, and God has blessed us with a beautiful Sunday.
We are invited tonight to our neighbors church for their annual "Trunk or Treat" festival- The church goes over the top and it is lots of fun for the kids, but I am not sure I am even feeling up to that. I want to for the boys. If I can shake this headache, then I will.

Again more prayers today for our friends and family to the north..Hurricane Sandy is going to make things interesting for them over the next couple of days. I hope all is prepared, and folks are not taking this monster storm lightly. Please stay safe up there..

Garage Sale Saturday

Today was the Saturday I have been planning for a couple of weeks now. Our community wide garage sale.
The weather was dreary, cloudy, and incredibly windy. The wind was so strong that Senior and I both have headaches now.
All week I battled the boys about selling toys. Everytime I put something in a box, little ND started to cry...Oh how I felt awful !. I tried telling him we need money so we can buy new ones...I don't think he cared. They were his toys, and he loves them. Then I thought how I felt when I traded in my Jeep. I could sympathize with him, and I caved.

So today, I got up early, made coffee, dressed warmly and set up in the driveway. I had lots of old halloween costumes, some scrapbook supplies, toys, boy clothes,and other odds and end. I don't think I sold one odd or end. It was mainly the clothes and toys people were after. Which was a sign of the kind of economy we are in. I even had some pint and jelly canning jars out. Only one person looked at them and then she thought my 8.00 for the entire box was too high.

Then Senior added some more guy appropriate items. Most of those sold. I was surprised by the men who were out shopping..again-you can tell what kind of economy we have.

In the end, it was a good day for us, we brought in 80.00, didn't sell everything, donated what we had left over. Which always makes me feel good to be able to make a charitable donation and help people out.

Now that we have the formalities out of the way, my hubby  at his blog: SENIOR'S MESS did an outstanding post last night about our Excel Food Prep list that we use. He meticulously developed it and did a in depth post on the subject. I recommend you check it out if you want to get your food preps better organized. Its always nice to  know what exactly what you have and for how many days.

Hurricane Sandy is off our coast and we are enjoying cloudy skies and wind. I do pray for those folks in the mid-Atlantic and northeast who are in her sights. They say a 100 year storm is in the making. Stock up and get prepared now.
So with our weather today being kind of crummy, Senior and I took off to the gun range. It has been a little while since our last day there, and he has been wanting to try out the new Blackout 300 he built.

It has been a while since I posted one of these. So here you go. This is a car wash in Tennessee...looks like those voters have their minds made up.

Good Gawwd Thats a Big Tater!

What is it about a cool fall day and sweet potatoes? They just seem to go hand in hand. I remember as a kid, I loved them so much. I would cut up my pork chop and mix it all together.

 Tonight for our supper, we are having left over ribs from Sunday; everyone wants corn, but not me.  I don’t care for canned yams, or sweet potato soufflé. Just give me the red beauty baked in the oven, and smothered in butter.

 So, I took off to the produce stand. Much of what they had was from Georgia and small.  When I get a sweet tater, I want a big one.

Then I found another box. Yeah that is what I am talking about!

Big, red, and sweet and exactly, what I needed to bring a smile to my face.

I get the kids, home and walk in with my treasured beauty.

Wash it off, and then Senior says: “good gawwd that’s big!
Are you hungry or something?”

“Why yes I am, is that a problem”? I said with a raised eyebrow….

“Uh no..just sayin..thats big”

“MmmmHmmmm” I say

 

I clean up my tater, and wrap her in foil. I preheat the oven to 390 and gently place it on the rack to bake. Ohhh! I can’t wait to inhale that delicious smell at supper time. To cut her open and let my taste buds absorb my first sweet potato of the fall season

 

Obama Supporters Threaten Riots

Disclaimer: I do try to not get overly political on my blog. However, this story is being ignored by the mainstream media, and I feel it should get out there and people made aware. if you do not like my post on the subject then simply click off it.


I wanted to put this story on my blog this morning because these comments do concern me. I am worried about friends, and family who live in and around the large cities. Twitter has been lighting up recently with comments on attempts of Romney's life should he win the election.  Again, more of the same from the typical Obama supporter. If you don't believe me, then read the article, take notice of the language and grammar and look at who is doing the tweets:

I believe that there are two types of Democrats. There is first, the kind making the threats on twitter. Promising violence if their guy does not win, I want a hand out, gimme a free phone, house, and gas type.

Then there is the second- Which is what we have in our neighborhood- Global warming, alfalfa sprout eating, Whole Food Store shopping, anti-gun and tree hugger, lets save a spider, but screw paying 3.50 for a gallon of gas type.

Since we have this second category in our community, I am not overly worried about us here should Romney win. I am more worried about those of you out in the more populous areas. People like my parents, who are elderly, and lived in the same house for over 55 years. The neighborhood once a good place to raise kids. Now its infested with high crime and blight. Should SHTF, my parents are a perfect target.

I do  know and understand this is very heated election. Probably the most important election in history. And in any election, there will be a loser and his supporters will be upset. But to riot? What level of intelligence is that? 

Many in our neighborhood have signs in their yards, we have elected not to should any acts of vandalism occur. If these threats ring true, then those with a Romney sign will indeed become a target.  So, I am encouraging you all on election night, to be alert and vigilant. Stay inside if you can, keep blinds closed, a shotgun, and battle rifle by the door-It wouldn't hurt just in case.

Sunday Morning and "The Talk"

It is a cool Sunday morning here. God has bless. blessed us with yet another beautiful fall day. My coffee is hot, sausage is defrosting. It is sausage gravy biscuits for breakfast today.,
Then later, Senior is cranking up the smoker yet again for Ribs. Of course my Mac n Cheese, and a home made peach cobbler...Good lord I must love my family !  : )


I can't stop thinking about a conversation Friday night with our oldest NW. He is the ripe old age of 7 and all ready wise beyond his years.
Halloween week at the boys school is "spirit week" each day is a theme. Tuesday is "Sock it to drugs"-they get to wear crazy socks.
Well, while ND was playing in his bath, and Senior outside by the fire pit. NW asked me "What are drugs".  I had to then go in to detail about the difference between prescriptions we get for being sick, and ones people take for fun. It was difficult explaining the differences. I told him even kids his age might try to offer him the "fun" drugs, or they may go in to mommy and daddy's medicines and bring some to school. I asked: "what would he do if a little friend offered him something" ?
His answer was To tell his teacher. I smiled and told him that is correct. But he elaborated further and said that he would then tell the friend, that he is a not sick and has no reason to take any medicines..
"Good Answer" I told him.  I hope that sentiment continues as he grows.

As good as the conversation went, it left me sad and worried for his and his little brothers future. I am sad because I shouldn't have to be having this conversation with a 7 year old. What has society done to our children?  They shouldn't have to worry about such things in life.
 I still see them both as my little babies, and I know that while they are my babies, they are also growing up into little men. I guess that is the "mother" part of me, wanting to keep them as innocent as I can, for as long as I can. I want them to be allowed to be kids and enjoy all aspects of what being a kid means.

I just hope, like any parent does that Senior and I are preparing them well for the challenges they face as they get older.  And no matter the good job we do, ultimately it will be up to them and the decisions they make. As a wise person once told me:  "we are the ones in charge of our own destiny"

The conversation ended, but I am still left with worry. I talked to Senior about it, who has also promised to talk with both boys on the subject. I am so very thankful for my Senior. No matter what obstacles we have faced during our marriage, the good, the bad and the ugly. We have always kept it together. I am happy that our boys can see their parents showing emotions with each other, hugging and kissing etc. My mother in law ( god rest her soul) once told me the importance of that , she told me so many couples don't, and that its positive for the children to see the love between their moms and dads.  I now think that comment is the root of it all for our society..it all comes down to the family and what kind of family the children have at home.  Family is what shapes our children in to the adults they will turn out to be.

Saturday Adventure...

Okay with SENIOR, STEPHEN, and the boys have a day to do some cleaning up, the boys and I kidnapped Stephens Sweet Wife. We made a long drive to central Florida, and spent the day at a very large flea market.

The day here was gorgeous..deep blue sky, weather in the 70s, a perfect fall day.

After browsing the aisles for a deal, we decided to hit the outlying folks. You know the kind that set up in a camper, and has all their treasure in the grass.
We found one such bra-less, toothless wonder in the back of the parking lot. Everything was a dollar. If it did have a price tag on it, you could haggle with her and she would knock some off the price.
I found a Christmas tree liquid soap holder.

And it was in just such a place that we came across these Jewels for good ole Stephen:

Yep that is right, SW and I hit the mother load of old Coleman Stoves. He was an old biker dude, long hair, and of course "toothless" I think it is a pre-requisite. But, he was a hoot. A very likable old guy. He had a bunch of things, including some Coleman lanterns. I got one stove and lantern for Senior, and SW bought the other three for Stephen to refurbish.
Now, it is rare to find even one stove...but to come across 4 is unheard of. Well, that was not the end of it. The next two sellers we went to, each had stoves. SW bought one more, and I bought another lantern. That makes 4 stoves for Stephen to work on...He is going to be a busy man! 

Then the kids saw the "Kettle Korn" stand, and of course we had to buy some bags. Can't go to the Flea market without getting some fresh warm kettle korn.

Then it was time to load up our treasures....Need a Coleman Stove anyone? 

We then hit a BBQ restaurant for lunch...I didn't realize how hungry we all were. Because we scarfed that food down in a hurry.
Back home, Senior checked out my purchases...He said "Well Done"  The stove we got while old, is in great condition, so are both lanterns. One will need the mantles though.
Oh, I did learn one valuable lesson today..."Never take a 6 and 7 year old into an antique store".

On another comical note, we found a lady with Halloween costumes. I found an awesome robe. I asked how much..the lady told me she only rents out her costumes.. "what" ? I thought. Who rents costumes at the flea market...OMG.

So, we are all back home from our day, We had a lovely time with SW...I hope the boys didn't wear her out too much. I told her should would probably settle back tonight with a stiff drink after being with them all day...  : )

50s Friday

My day started off by helping Senior, and trimming palm trees for two of our clients. We had to rent a long pole saw, and he had to climb a ladder, I got to do the clean up job.  : )  . I was okay until I suffered an on the job injury and got a scrape on my ankle. I wonder if my boss carries workers comp?

But, as luck would have it, I had to break off ( DARN IT ! )  because today was the 50th day of school. The 1st graders celebrated by dressing like the fifties, and having a root beer float social.ND wore rolled up blue jeans, and white T-shirt. I spiked up his hair and tucked the shirt in. That lasted about 20 minutes. So yours truly got to help. I wore rolled up jeans, bobbi socks, a flipped up collared shirt, and scarf tied round my pony tail. Also for kicks, I donned a pair 50s era reading glasses, that are from my antique eye wear collection. The kids got a big kick out of the glasses, and had fun trying them on.

After school it was off to the Navy Commissary. Good Lord I love that place..deals every where!. Today they had a special of Zaterains Rice Mixes. The Beef and the Cheddar Broccoli for .75 a box. I stocked up and adding them to our food supply. They are both super yummy and make for a great meal all by themselves.
Some people are hoarders, of different things. Some people though go to the extreme and you can't walk through their house. I guess you could say I am becoming a food hoarder. When I buy things, now I buy in a big quantity, It use to be 1 or 2 of something, now I find that when something is a good deal, I really stock up. I think we all should do that, if you do it frequently and start setting the extra items away, You will realize that you have a stored food supply. When and If that emergency happens, at least you will have something to eat, instead of being like those poor souls who are running out and finding empty grocery store shelves. Remember: GROCERY STORES ONLY KEEP ABOUT A 3 DAY SUPPLY ON HAND...and if there are no delivers being made, guess what?  Yep that's right! Your out of luck.

Okay so there you have my advice for the day.  : )  Now go out and start prepping !

 It is suppose to get down in the upper 40s here, Senior is making us a fire in the pit tonight. I love just to sit out there at night and look at all the stars, and find space junk with binoculars.
Tomorrow is Saturday, can't wait as it is going to be a fun adventure. But I can't tell you about it now, wait until I post about it. Okay so have a good Friday night, relax and enjoy it! 

Report Cards....

They went home yesterday in our school district. Our boys, did well this first semester. Lots of A's, B's and Excellants. Senior and I are very proud.

But we did find it funny, that for all the hard work the school gave rewards in the shape of free fast food coupons.For Citizenship they get a free hamburger from McDonald's. And for being a "Supreme Student" they got a free taco coupon from Taco Bell.

"Okay, stop right there" I thought ,They are giving away fast food coupons. NO WAY !
But, doesn't that go against the whole Michelle Obama and the government food initiative to stop obesity?
Didn't she preach that all this junk food causes obesity in children? She worked single handily to change government laws, and fast food and school cafeteria menus. San Francisco went as far as to outlaw toys in kids "Happy Meals". Geez..whats the fun in that? One of our kids biggest thrills is getting a McDonald's happy meal once in a while.
Unless you have school age kids, you probably didn't know it was even going on. It still amazes me how one person who is not a politician, could have so much persuasion and get so much passed. Its kind of like Michelle said "Jump" and Washington said "How High" ?
But, she hasn't stopped with just school lunches, now she is moving on to the sacred mess halls of the military..Okay I was a Navy wife for 17 + years, and I can testify that it wouldn't hurt a few folks in uniform to eat better, but C'Mon Man! Enough all ready. It isn't the Obamas business what we eat or what we do or don't feed our kids.

Well, I can say in response that I am Thankful for our local school system,they are still allowing kids to be kids, and have fun being rewarded for good grades and citizenship. It makes me feel that there are folks out there that don't mind giving Washington the proverbial finger once in a while....

Back Home...

Well we had a good time on our little mini vacation. Took the kids to Legoland. Yes there is a complete theme park dedicated to those wonderful lego blocks that we all grew up playing with.
Boys had a blast,as it was decorated for Halloween. So as I promised to Kymber, here are some pics of our trip.

They also have a "Lego-Mini City". More then 50 Million legos went in to building the city and all the lego exhibits throughout the park. I could not imagine having that many blocks laying around the house..

Then it was off to my favorite place..DISNEY!
We were so proud of ND who rode the Space Mountain indoor coaster 2 times..He loved it!
We caught some Parades, rode rides, and enjoyed the parks "trick or treating"

We also hit the premium outlet mall and did some school clothes shopping for the boys. I tried jeans on them from last year, and it looks like they are expecting a flood. We found my all time favorite kids store " Osh-Kosh" and racked up some some jean sales.

As good as it is to take a vacation, its just as equally good to get back home. Boys are back in school tomorrow, then maybe I can finally finish the long awaited baby album for my friend.
Its off now to the store for some groceries. Have a good day everyone !

Gone for a long weekend

The summer has been long for Senior. He has worked hard, and sweated through the hot summer months. The boys have this coming Monday and Tuesday off, So last week I suggested we take a long weekend and head out of town to do something fun.  Today I checked the kids out of school early, and we got on the road.

We first stopped so Senior could get some more work shorts, and I finally a new pair of Crocs. I love wearing crocs, they are comfy and roomy, and its okay to get them wet. And yes I even have a couple of those little funky jibbits on them..mine is one of Tinkerbell, and a flower.

Boys the entire way to our destination was a nightmare...I thought we had two girls in the back seat. They couldn't agree on the DVD player. So, I grabbed it and shut it down. I told them to count cars for excitement. I was plainly tired of hearing it.

I grabbed my current read: "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" Book 3. I like this one the best.
So I snuck in to my own world for a little while and disappeared in to the book. I like to hope they make the series into a movie, I would love to be in it. I wonder which character I could play?

We made it to our hotel, boys were over the moon with excitement. relaxed and out to dinner, Came back and played in hotel game room. Senior got us some adult beverages, and I bought the boys a high priced box of apple juice. They were having a Friday night movie by the pool: "Dumbo"
WOW!  I haven't seen that movie in years. It was fun sitting there and enjoying it with my kids, the way my parents use to do with me.

So there we sat, with other hotel guest. Sipping on our drinks, enjoying the evening, and finally relaxing. Its good to be on a mini vacation and out of the house. Change of scenery does the body good. 

Cool Mornings, and Warm Afternoons

We have had a cold snap. Jack Frost has blown his cool breath across the area and its been in the 50s here in the mornings.. for us that is BRRRRRRR Cold.
But it has warmed up to become a beautiful fall day. The pumpkins are out in massive droves. Halloween is around the corner. I must get on to SENIOR about getting my Halloween items down from the attic.

The baby fish are growing, you can now make out their little eyes and tails. We only have 5 of them left. So I hope they make it.

The other day the boys ran in yelling for me to go out back with them, a butterfly was laying in the grass. Very  beautiful one in deed. Not sure if its a Monarch or not.  ND is an aspiring entomologist. I mean what boy isn't.?  If there is a bug within a five mile radius of our house, he will find it. When Seniors mom passed we found a book with pictures of every possible insect in the world. He likes to carry it around and draw them. So, when he say this butterfly in the yard, he went completely nuts, and hoping it wasn't dying. Explaining nature to a 6 year old is really hard.

A new antique shop has opened in town, I must see if one day Stephens Sweet Wife would like to come up and go off antiquing with me. I am in need of more old canning jars....okay, so its not really a need. Oh gosh, I can see Seniors eyes rolling at me! 

Finally almost done with the baby album I have been working on, only three more pages to go and I can gift it to my friend. She use to be NW and NDs Preschool teacher, so I let the boys pick out a month to design, they chose March and April. 

Got to ride around the community yesterday with our assistant community manager person. She does the inspections for the Homeowners Association. I was her little secretary writing down all the addresses she is sending violation letters to. Well, the political signs are actually getting out of hand around here. People are acting like its a competition of who can have the most signs in their yards.So, she had to send out an email to all residents about it, plus mailing a letter. It is a violation to have any sign other then a "For Sale" sign up. So, I am sure there will be some ticked off people around here.

The VP debate tonight! This will give the American people a good chance to look at Paul Ryan and get to know him. I hope he does well against Biden....

Welp, its time to go get boys from school...can't wait to hear about their adventures.

I honestly don't get it. Is the board Obamas teleprompter? Or is BO going to try to school Romney on Economics?  I hope some of my followers can help me make sense of what significance the board has in relation to the President.

My Friday; Monday....

The morning began with Senior and I both sleeping through the alarm clocks. When I do finally stumble up it is after 6am, and little ND is all ready dressed and ready to go. You can always tell what day of the week it is in my house by the rush of energy in the mornings. I as well, am ready for friday, that means we get to sleep in for the weekend.
 I look at the dinning room table, and my current scrap book project, knowing I need to bust my fanny on it-it's a baby album for a friend, baby is all ready 4 months old, need to get it to her at some point before her daughter graduates high school.

I get to the kitchen turn on the coffee pot, and wishing for an IV so I can just inject it right in to my blood stream. I then notice NW all ready up and ready to go...wow it is a Friday, normally I am having to raise my voice and turn the lights on his room just to get him to roll over.

They both bounce in to the kitchen, I am still yawning and half a sleep. Ruger begins his whine to go out, I open the back kitchen door to the sun room and that is when all the bells and whistles go off.... I forgot to disarm the blankety alarm!.. Kids scream, NW is holding his ears,  I run to the control panel to shut it off, Senior stumbles out of our room.."What the ---" 
 Well, at least my impromptu security alarm drill works..  : )

The company calls...they clear it out.

Time to go to school, boys in car, I forget my cell phone inside..go back in and get it..  I get back out to car, crank it up--"Oh blast" ! I say, I had forgotten to get cash from Senior so I could pay my chaperon fee for NDs upcoming museum field trip. Go back in side, wake Senior back up.... 
Finally we can leave for school. The morning is foggy, thick, you could cut it with a knife. As usual there is some nut that does not have their lights on.

Drop kids off, go back home. crawl back in to warm bed. Maybe if I go back to sleep, and re-wake up. I can start my Monday..errrr  Friday over again.....  : )

Garden and A Debate

Was in the backyard with Ruger and thought I would snap a few pictures to share with you guys. Remember previously I said i started planting roses?
Well, here is a good shot of the "Gold Medal Rose" I put in.. Looks like that rose food I bought is paying off, the blooms have been spectacular.

And finally got the long awaited Bi-Colored Rose...

The small carrots I planted are growing along nicely in the boxes... should not be long now until we are snacking on them.

And you can't live in the South, and not plant Collard Greens....another staple in my house that we freeze and eat off of for the entire year.

Now to the good stuff,;Last nights Debate..  I went to bed last night with a renewed energy..Mitt Romney had a home run.  You could certainly tell who was the more prepared and the more presidential of the two.
Obama was a stuttering embarrassment without his teleprompter and Mitt seized the moment.
Afterwards I am sure the President went back stage and smoked an entire carton of Newport's. I guess that is what happens when you have John Kerry of all people as your debate coach.

Mitt delivered many memorable lines, but none better then : "Mr. President, you are entitled to your own airplane, your own house as president, but not to your own facts."  What a zinger!.

I hope that the independents and those of you who are still undecided watched last night, and that it helped make up your mind.
Tune in next week, when it is Ryan vs Biden..That is the steel cage death match I have been waiting for.

Finding New Places

 

I love discovering new places. Like today, I must have passed by the little produce stand a hundred times, but never stopped until today after my eye exam.  

Pumpkins lined the sidewalk outside, the windows were decorated for fall. A bell rang when you walked in the little store. A kindly elderly man was behind the counter bagging green beans.
"C'mon on in" he said with a smile.  I smiled back and began to browse and inhale all the good smells.
"Have you been in before" ? he asked
"No, sir" I said
"Well, here then ,have a free tomato".
I held out my hand and giggled, and said a big "Thanks". Now, that is the kind of customer service you just don't get anymore.
 I looked around...loaves of fresh breads, and jars of  Apple butter, Mayhaw Jelly, Peach and Black berry Jams lined the shelves. He told me sweetly they were all very good, and only $5.00 .
He loved stocking local honey as well, even had it in 5 gallon jugs.
Immediately I thought of ideas for Christmas baskets for family, my sister loves all that stuff

"You got a dog" ? he asked. I nodded. "Then on the second shelf is doggie treats made by the special needs kids over at the high school, they sell them for a dollar a bag".  I picked up a bacon flavored one for Ruger; Then told him my neighbors grandson is in that program..
 " You know" he said " I don't get any kick back off selling those, it just seems the right thing to do"

Wow!  I thought, have I dropped in to the twilight zone at some point!

I then, got a bag of carrot sticks, and some fresh broccoli-the boys will love it. NW will only eat broccoli if it is fresh and steamed. No frozen stuff for him.

Did more browsing, then his little wife stepped out and greeted me with a smile. More customers came in. I paid and left with a big 'Thank You", and a " I will be back". The little couple left a impression on me, for their kindness and customer service. And I meant what I said, I will go back and often.

UPDATE ON THE BABY FRYE: 
I put most of the new babies in a holding pen, well that did not work out as well as I thought Because they did not make it  : (   So, I have decided to let nature take its course with the remaining 11 that are still in the tank with mom and dad. They are now a week old and doing okay.
Yesterday ND and I were looking in to the tank, and did not see them, then along comes dad and spits them out...I forget that Cichlids will carry the babies in their mouths. It was another aspect of nature I have never seen. It is amazing watching these wonderful parents and the lengths they are going to in order to protect their young.

 

I know this is not a very good picture, but that is one in front of the white rock. They dart around so fast , that its hard to get a good shot.

First presidential debate is tomorrow night, to say that I am worried over this election would be an understatement, I am terrified of 4 more years. I hope Romney comes out swinging, and hammers BO. Please, if you are one of the undecided, then please watch..maybe it will help you make up your mind.  We live in a community with a HOA, we were told at the last meeting that no one is allowed to put up political signs, and those who have all ready done so will get sent a letter and told to take them down. I was happy to hear this because I know how it would tick off all the BO supporters around here.

Got chores to do around the house today, would have liked to hang clothes out to dry, but mother nature had other plans, more rain off and on today for us. A front is suppose to stall out..just what we need! more rain..in addition to the over 70 inches we have had this summer. Wish I could send it to those folks who really need it.

I've been dealing with a headache for nearly two days now, I think it is my eyes. I am putting off the inevitable and must get them checked. It has been a while since the last time I went to a eye doctor and even then he told me to start using a pair of reading glasses..which I pretty much ignored.

You know, it really sucks getting old...    : (
