I don't condone the gay lifestyle and my thoughts and prayers do go out to the families who lost a loved one.  And I sure don't condone what this Islamic terrorist did on our soil. But given the fact that I am The "Jacked up glock mom". I find humor in what POTUS stated about my preferred weapon to carry.-The Glock

He neither knows the difference between a magazine and a clip, and has the ignorant ideology that it can have multiple ones inserted at the same time..

a choice and a conversation....

Some girls fret over what clothes and shoes to buy, the choices are endless, and the decision is always a hard one. Not I of course, my current dilemma is over a new handgun. This really started over a week ago when Senior got a text from a friend asking if I wanted to sell my Glock...  'What" !!  No I am not selling my Glock. Then I wouldn't be "The Glock Mom"  I love that gun.

My current issue is between a Ruger SR .22 or a 1911 .22  I like them both and have handled them both. I watched a youtube on the Ruger , and liked it, very lightweight and fits well in my hand.  But, it came in black,  pink or purple.  And I really want mine in Zombie Green. But then there is the 1911... I always wanted one.
This search took me from the local gun shop to a big box sporting goods store. Senior was shopping from the 5.56 that is soon to be executive ordered out of stock. And I was peeking in to the counter. Again no Zombie green Ruger SR.22  and no 1911 in .22 either...

Next to me was a small and fragile elderly woman and her overbearing son, who was trying like a politician to talk his little ole mother in to some big honking  knock off brand .45  in stainless steel that the woman could barely hold up. I hate seeing this.
I injected myself in to the conversation, after chatting with her a bit I found out she had never handled a gun before, and had never shot one. So, I suggested something easier for the mother to handle and to shoot. Such as the Glock 26 or a Ruger..   Oh no! This made the son unhappy. He did not like Glocks or Rugers and wanted his mother to get something cheaper, it is only for home defense he said and will stay in her nightstand., his mother he said needed something with stopping power and a gun is better then any insurance policy. The guy behind the counter looked at me rolled his eyes, and shook his head at the son...lol
My argument back was that she needed something she could handle and was easy for her to use. I even suggested a revolver so that she did not have to worry about a slide.   I myself went through at least 4 handguns until I found my perfect fit. But what did I know? I was just a woman.
The best thing for this mom to do would have been to tell her son where to go, and carry herself to an indoor range where she can try out different guns. And I kick myself for not suggesting that..

I wished her luck and Senior and I walked off. After some more time browsing we walked back past the gun counter and the pair was still there..

And I am still here with my little dilemna  of what to get the 1911 or a Ruger SR. For me to get the SR in green obviously means I need to get the black one and duracoat the parts I want green...  *SIGH*

Sunday

Clocks were set back last night and we got our hour of sleep back as well. Gosh I love Fall !

Senior brought home the open trailer today he did some much needed maintenance as this week is our "mulch job from hades"...   We have to move around 40 yards of it throughout one of our communities. We stick to doing it ourselves so we can net more money.

While Senior was doing the work on the trailer, I was in the back cutting collard greens, and un-beknownst to me the "IT " Happened..  I came in the house and opened the laundry room door, some how, in some way a large bottle of bleach had fallen, and half of it leaked out on to the floor. A laundry bag with a few shirts in it got wet. So, I had to break it to Senior that his favorite "Carolina Gamecocks" t-shirt was ruined, but to smooth it over I showed him my "Glock Girl" shirt. Both are now rags in the garage.   *Sigh* I promise to purchase him a new shirt on our next visit to the SC Estate.
The  bleach cleanup was a nightmare, the mop head I was using got bleached out, I smell like bleach, and it was my neighbor who said it best :" well at least your laundry room floor is good and disinfected"  uggggh

Senior felt after that incident we just needed to get out of the house, so we all headed down to our favorite gun shop to see what was on sale, I can tell you that not much was on sale. He is looking to sell his CETME and get a AR Pistol. We were also sizing up ND for his first little rifle, he is hoping Santa will drop one off for him this year.
I am of the firm belief that not only should some people be parents, but those same folks should not be allowed to own a firearm..  I  like going in to gun stores, and people watch..very amusing.

Sun is now going down on this Sunday, the clock reads 6pm  but it looks like 7:30 outside...   We are grilling chicken and it is about ready....  Enjoy your evening everyone!

Blame it on the Screw....

Blame it on the screw that Senior found in my tire. For if it had not lodged itself in there, then I would have gone about my day as I had planned and not side tracked by sitting for over an hour and a half at the tire store. I could not complain to much though, they did patch it for free, even though I did not purchase the tires from there.
Finally the Cherokee was finished. I sent a text to Senior who was working near by to see if he wanted lunch. He said sure, and we had a brief but nice little outing.

I had an hour to kill. did not want to drive back to our little area then over to our subdivision, then leave again to get the boys from school. Senior had said he needed a veggie tray for his last class tonight. They were having a "pot luck". Okay, my original plan was the store earlier in the day, but since it was wasted at the tire store, I will go now.  I really hate driving around so much. But, I am also a firm believer on if you are out...then stay out and get your errands done.

I get to the store around 1;30. that is about 40 minutes I had to waste before getting ND. I browsed like I normally do. Picked up a few groceries, including the veggie tray. Checked out and headed to the car. It was 2:05 and I was right on track for picking up the boys.

That is when I first saw her. She was leaning on a car parked next to mine talking on a cell phone.  I could hear she was crying and something about her medications had her upset. I went to open the drivers side door. She had hung up, and was sobbing.

{I do know what some of you will say.. And yes my guard was up, and my hand on my glock. I know to be careful,I was wary of the other shoppers going to their cars, and where her hands were at all times-security cameras were every where, and store employees were sitting at a picnic table near us. }

" Oh Hell! "  I thought......  "ma'am, are you okay? "  I asked. I just involved myself.  She looked up, with a bit of surprise on her face.
"No, I just moved here and because I am not a resident I can not get prescriptions filled, and my back is killing me, I came all this way out here from California..and now I just want to go back"

At this point, I expected her to ask for drugs, or money. But she didn't. She never asked for anything.
She told me her story, most of which I still can't figure out. Like why she  couldn't get a rx filled, If the original was at Walgreens.
And how she was married for 24 years, but separated from her husband 18 of those years.. wow! And now he wants her back. She just went on and on for what seemed an eternity.

I know I could have got in the car and drove off. But, it was something an old preacher once said that made me stop. He said " We are tested every day. You never know when that person in need could be Jesus in disguise"

Things always happen for a reason... And I think the series of events starting with the screw in my tire put me in that spot at that exact moment, more for my benefit then hers. Lately, I feel as though my level of compassion and nice-ness is being tested. I needed to know for myself that I truely am not the mean catty ogre a couple of former friends have made me out to be.

I nodded my head a bit, then told her I would pray for her. I wished her luck..and I truely meant that. I did keep my word and said a silent prayer as I drove off.

The Gun Debate

And I don't meant the one that every one is talking about. This was a gun debate of another form.
A childhood friend of mine recently posted on FB that she is finally wanting a firearm and would like advice on what she should purchase.
Several women gave her  advice, including me. I told her to come over to my place and we could go to the range. I offered to let her fire some of mine, so she can first get a feel for them and learn some of the basics of gun safety.
I also told her that I personally carry a Glock 26 gen4  but that I also have a S&W bodyguard .380 ( and know other women who do as well).  What I decide to carry with me for that day depends on where I am going and what mood I am in. ...  If I truly wished to mess some ones day up, then I would carry my Taurus Judge.

Well, her oldest daughter who is a paramedic chimes in. She first reminded her mother that firearms need cleaning, but that a Glock is a "dry gun" and does not need cleaning,or maintaining. .

I read that comment a few times, scratched my head and before I responded, I sought out Senior for his knowledge...he confirmed what I was all ready thinking..  But I do like to make sure of my facts.
I commented that any fire arm needs to be cleaned and maintained regularly and I think that she meant you can "dry fire" a Glock, but its not a practice I recommend.

Then the conversation then went to : "What if you had to actually shoot someone". Miss EMT, said that if she shot some one then she would only do it in the legs, or arm, and then render first aid until police showed up. She has seen in her career too much blood and death and there is no way she couuld take a human life, because she is in the business of saving them.

I fully understand that sentiment. However, while she is rendering first aid, the bad guy could still hurt a person, and what I commented was that when it comes down to my family and I ,versus some home invader or rapists...then I would shoot to kill. Being Mrs. Nice Lady goes out the window.
I also went on to say that I did not ask to be made into some ones victim, they chose to commit a crime. There is no reasoning with a criminal, there is no talking your way out of it, its either you or them...and I pefer the "Them"  And, in my State her actions could actually get her jail time.

This was Saturday when the conversation took place...Today is Wednesday...still no response.

My Shot Show Goodie Bag Came

Last Saturday I was sick in bed most of the day with a raging migraine, but by the  afternoon I was feeling better so I logged in to blogger. I was so excited  to see I was one of the winners of the  GunDivas  Shot Show goodie bags. Seeing my name, made me perk right up.
Then today It came in the mail :

Got lots of cool stickers, I took the 2 Rifle ones at the bottom and made them in to a car magnet. I also got a autographed picture of Steven Rinella host of the "Meat Eater" show on the Sportsman Channel He has also done a series on the Travel Channel called " The Wild Within"

Being the Glock Girl that I am, My favorite item is this little beauty:

The boys were completely nuts over all the stickers, and confiscated a few of them. ND found this temporary tattoo  and cammo rubber bracelet. He Immediately stuck the tattoo on his arm before his older brother could grab it, now he doesn't want to wash it off...

So, a big THANK YOU GunDivas for this awesome prize and for sharing your goodies from the Shot Show.

He meticulously developed it and did a in depth post on the subject. I recommend you check it out if you want to get your food preps better organized. Its always nice to  know what exactly what you have and for how many days.

Hurricane Sandy is off our coast and we are enjoying cloudy skies and wind. I do pray for those folks in the mid-Atlantic and northeast who are in her sights. They say a 100 year storm is in the making. Stock up and get prepared now.
So with our weather today being kind of crummy, Senior and I took off to the gun range. It has been a little while since our last day there, and he has been wanting to try out the new Blackout 300 he built.
here is a sampling of my groupings :

This is with my Glock--okay so I got a few shots in the black..

With my Ruger 10/22 and the Archangel Conversion
yea I think I killed the guy !

Celebrating My Birthday/Valentines At The Range...

Today is the day that yours truly turns another year older...42..ouch! Yes, Valentines Day is also my Birthday.  Some of you will still call me a baby..I know, its only as old as you feel. Or, like my brother told me, 42 is the new 25.

I knew from the beginning I wanted to go to my range today, I have not shot my 9 since before my surgery, and I soon realized that my hand is still a bit weak. I think I need to buy one of those squeezy balls and exercise the muscles. Anyways  it was good to load her up and let off about 50 rounds. God knows I LOVE this gun....

I also choose to take along my "Archangel" Ruger 10/22. I can't talk enough about how much I love this one too. Its a hell of a lot of fun to shoot. Some days I can't get enough of it.

Senior had the itch to shoot .308 today so he brought along his M1A and the HK91 Clone, he shot 20 rounds through each with a 97.5% probability of hitting the 5 point bowling pin. He was excited to show the locals who go in with their Mini-14s what a real rifle looks and sounds like.  : )
