Stolen Valor and The Supreme Court

Seniors Medals--Who did EARN the right to wear them!

Ahead of the decision on Obamacare the SCOTUS also ruled on a case involving "Stolen Valor" some of you may have heard about this, some you not. It was in no way a news headline, but yet it did indeed make its way through the highest court of liberals in the land.

Senior and I both are seething and dissappointed over the courts decision..  The case first started with a man named Xavier Alvarez from Los Angeles, who claimed he not only served in the Marines but was a Medal of Honor Reciepient. When in fact he had never served. For his lie he was discharged from his position with the Three Valley Water District out in L.A.  and hac to serve probabtion. So, to make long story short, this one case made it all the way to SCOTUS and they actually ruled in favor by a 6-3 vote. So now lieing about military service, and medals, is legal and protected under the 1st Amendment of our Constitution.

The court did agree that Alvarez was pathetic and and his comments contemptable but, is guarenteed under the 1st Amendments right of free speech.  I do beg to differ with the court..We do not have the right of free speech in this country..You do not have the right to enter a crowded room and shout "Fire". Radio show host can not freely drop the "F-Bomb", You can not make threats, or commit libal and defammation of others..And in many states you can now actually be fired for making statements as a private citizen about your employer..so therefore we do not have the right of free speech in this country.

This ruling is a degredation to those who did serve and earned their medals. And it devaluates the sanctity of being awarded medals for your military service. You are not just "presented" a medal, you have to go through a lot to receive one, and for a person who never served and did not do anything to earn them is a real slap in the face to those who have. And Senior and I both should know..he did 20 years in our Navy and has many medals to show for his hard work and dedication to the service.

If an active duty member  wears a medal they did not earn  they will face punishment under the  Uniform Code of Military Justice....so why should it be legal for some private citizen to be able to walk in to some sleaze bag  pawn shop or military surplus store and buy them..its just an absolute outrage.

All ready there is new legislation being presented to Congress to Amend the Stolen Valor Act. The bill would make it a crime to lie about military honors if there was an intent to gain material benefit.
But still the fact remains that somebody is allowed to lie about receiving awards they did not receive in service to their country. Falsely claiming that you bled for your country or received any award you did not earn is a disgrace.

Remember "No New Taxes" ?

At first I was very heated over the decsion by the SCOTUS. I had hope for a much better outcome.
Then Senior came home, and gave me a positive light about it. He made me see that the Admin has some heavy explaining to do to the American People. Could it be that in reality the SCOTUS is setting up the President? What they have just awoken is nothing less then a sleeping giant.

How is BO going to explain himself when at first it all wasnt a tax, but now it is.. 
He is now having to go back on his word much like George H. Bush did, when he said "No New Taxes".

In this horrible economy, millions out of work, people losing their homes every day..how in the heck is BO going to sell this new tax? 
Obamacare was the focal point of the 2010 midterms and now it has just been made the Pivotal benchmark topic of the 2012. It is going to make or break this election.

My day in a Nutshell

Today is probably one of the most news worthy days we have seen in a long time. Obamacare hangs on a thread. I have FOX news on, and awaiting the high courts ruling. If they keep everything else in it, I would at least hope the individual mandate gets struck down. But, I have the feeling they are going to rule against all of it,and the the hot summer we are all ready having is going to really heat up.

Then there is the Holder issue..today is the House vote to find him in contempt...It will be the first time EVER that a sitting AG will be found in contempt..The odds are so stacked against him that even some of the Dems are crossing the lines to vote in favor.  Interesting News Day indeed.....

I am also watching the New out of Colorado..I have friends stationed at Ft. Carson-so far I think they are okay.
It is really bad there and they all need our prayers, One of my favorite personalities: Michelle Malkin lives there and had to evacuate..I feel guilty with all the rain we got, they needed it worse..I hope and pray for the best for the state.

The weather has cleared here, and we are about to get the heatwave the rest of the country has been feeling..near 100  tomorrow...Senior is about a day behind in work due to Debby, so he will be out in it. I think we will head to the store later and get him one of those misty fan things..

Our youngest announced Tuesday that IF he were to have a little sister he wants to name her Debby..lol  I told him that factory shut down 6 years ago and will outsource the job...  :  )   The only sister he will be getting in the future will be the four legged kind...

Jeep needs washing today, I played in all of Debbys puddles too much...so it will be a good day to have the boys help and I squirt them with the hose to cool them off.

My little cucumber sprouts have broken the top of the soil, now I have some babies to tend too...I was so excited. It is a good science lesson for the boys to watch how plants grow. The one box Senior made me withstood all of Debbys rains, and so now I hope he can get to building me another.

I await tomorrow with excitement, the boys are staying at the grandparents, and Senior and I are finally getting some range time. Its been so hard since school has been out, and I am itching to shoot the AK. Plus give my Glock a work out, I feel like I am getting a bit rusty.

Now it is off to do lots of things..laundry, cleaning up the house, planning a good dinner for the family...etc.. and to await the courts ruling..must go pour more coffee...  : )

Funnies for the week...

Yep its one of those copy and paste kind of days for me...lots of rain, stuck inside with a bored 5 and 6 year old..heading to a movie later just so we can all get out of the house....so enjoy and laugh because I did...  : )

My Raised Garden Project

I said it since last Thursday that  blankety Debby was coming this way..my sister is a human barometer, when the rod in her back starts to aching, you know bad weather is coming. Not only that, but the humidity around here has been so thick you could cut it with a  knife. It has been like  steamy jungle tropics in these parts, okay I know Its Summer time in Florida,  you don't need to tell me about the humidity, I am from here...but seriously, Its rare I see it like this..and Debby is like a bad house guest, that doesn't want to leave. Forecasters are saying we may be dealing with her until Saturday!. 

Well, enough of Debby--This past Saturday Senior got to work on what is the first of several raised garden beds for us. I absolutely love it..mainly because it is elevated and I won't be on my hands and knees digging.. We plan on adding about 2-3 more. The boys love it too, we planted pickling cucumber seeds in this one, and every day they have ran out to check for sprouts.. Senior decided to play a joke and put a blade of grass and came in telling us one had sprouted..so the kids went running out the door..Needless to say they weren't happy with the joke.

Obama Gift Registry

How pompous and arrogant can one candidate be? Is this how deeply desperate his campaign is for funds? If I found out one of wedding guest or guest to any sort of event had done this I would Be Peeved off with a capitol P.They might as well not show their faces at my event...

 Hey our  5 and 6 year olds have  birthdays coming up...lets explain to them that Obama needs his presents more then he does!  and that its the gift that keeps on giving...lol

But you know the worst part about it? Is there are those out there that will do it!  Kind of like all those Sunday  morning evangelist begging for money on the TV. There is always a sucker out there and this will appeal to a lot of them..they will do anything to keep their man in office...

Keeping out the Mockingbirds

The news this morning was so full of so much stuff that I have chosen not to blog about all the stressfull current events, all though I must say: " Evoking Executive priveldge?"..what are they hiding?

Anyways, Senior and I this coming weekend are working on raised garden beds, I absolutin tootin cant wait. It is something I have wanted for a long time.
But, (and there is always a "But" in there somewhere)...  Its growing tomatoes..and mockingbirds..
They love maters as much as we do...I get excited watching them grow and turn orange to red, and then I start seeing the little holes, and the holes become bigger...grrrrrrrrr

So what is recommended to keep birds out of a garden? I guess we could make a scarecrow of sorts..But would that really work? Mockingbirds are agressive little pests anyways, Once we had a nest in our orange tree and even the poor dog couldnt go outside without being attacked, it was like a WWII air raid... So, do I honestly think a scarecrow would indeed work and scare them off? noooooo

Any advice would be greatly appreciated....now I am off here to meet my Russian friends...

I knew this technology was out there I mean they use drone aircraft all the time, but did not know this had indeed become reality until I saw the story on DRUDGE this morning.
Our government is working hard on developing INSECT DRONES..it does feel like the story is something out of a Hollywood movie, but no folks, it is real..just think about it, with these small almost undetectable drones, The initial thinking is a good one: to spy on terrorist, but how long will it be until they are using these little robots to spy on their own people?  Going in to YOUR house, watching YOUR family...all I can say, is keep a fly swatter handy!..

  The fear kicked off in 2007 when reports of bizarre flying objects hovering above anti-war protests sparked accusations that the U.S. government was accused of secretly developing robotic insect spies.
Official denials and suggestions from entomologists that they were actually dragonflies failed to quell speculation, and Tom Ehrhard, a retired Air Force colonel and expert on unmanned aerial craft, told the Daily Telegraph at the time that 'America can be pretty sneaky.'

The following year, the US Air Force unveiled insect-sized spies 'as tiny as bumblebees' that could not be detected and would be able to fly into buildings to 'photograph, record, and even attack insurgents and terrorists.'

Around the same time the Air Force also unveiled what it called 'lethal mini-drones' based on Leonardo da Vinci's blueprints for his Ornithopter flying machine, and claimed they would be ready for roll out by 2015.

That announcement was five years ago and, since the U.S. military is usually pretty cagey about its technological capabilities, it raises the question as to what it is keeping under wraps.

The University of Pennsylvania GRASP Lab recently showed off drones that swarm, a network of 20 nano quadrotors flying in synchronized formations

Happy Fathers Day to Dads Everywhere...

This event happend a few months back. I could not think of a more fitting Fathers day gift then seeing your special needs son walk for the first time.. Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there...

Flag Day

'I am what you make me; nothing more. I swing before your eyes as a bright gleam of color, a symbol of yourself.'

Today is Flag Day...but did you know? I bet the majority of Americans didn't. In actuality we are in the middle of "Flag Week". A week long event to celebrate our flag, and to retire worn and tattered flags properly.

  Old Glory flies proudly over government offices, companies and residences as a show of our country's solidarity. Unlike the rest of the world, we do not have one set ethnicity..we are a melting pot united by one common bond: Our Flag

She is a symbol, of everything we have fought and died for since the founding of our country. To me she means patriotism, freedom, hope and courage.There is not a more beautiful  site then seeing her waving in the wind from atop a pole, hoist high above all else for everyone to see. I feel a surge of patriotism when I see her flying on board our Naval vessels, or worn on the uniforms of our service members fighting over seas.
There is also not a sight in the world that is more powerful or emotional then seeing her draped over a coffin of a fallen military member, then folded and handed to his or her family.
 And nothing incites anger in me more, then seeing her trampled on and burnt by people who hate us.

 She is emblazoned with 13 strips that represent the 13 original colonies, the red stripes represent the blood that was shed for our country, and the white for courage and sprituality. The stars of course represent our States that make up the United States of America.

Our flag means a lot of things to a lot of people, it means we are free to make choices, free to worship, free to be whatever we want to be. We have the right to make choices freely and express freely who we want to run our government without fear, and I know America will always defend that right.

So I am proud to look upon our flag, Senior and I have a pole erected in our front yard, a light shines on her at night so we never have to take her down. And when I see her, which is every day. I am thankful for the freedoms we still have in this great country..for she serves as my constant reminder that we are still one nation under God.

Dads Fathers Day Gift

While meeting Mr. Fred over the weekend, he showed us this book. It is collection of WW II stories and pictures from sailors, and soldiers that are from the piedmont area of the Carolinas. I knew upon flipping through it I knew  that it would be a good read and something my own Father who hails from Western South Carolina would love. While some of the experiences that are told are quite comical, more are realistic and will bring a tear to your eye.

So, I jumped on Amazon and ordered a copy. It arrives today in the mail. I am excited over the thrill I know he will have when he opens this gift from us on Fathers day.

My buddy Rob yesterday mentioned On my post about Merrils Marauders that someone should record and save these veterans stories for the future, well this is one book that does that..its an insightful read for anyone, especially if you have a connection to the Carolinas. 

Our Carolina Trip....

Senior, the kids and I are back from a brief vacation to visit family up in South and North Carolina. The weather was wonderful over the past weekend. Seeing my 81 year old Father n Law was great, he is doing well.

We stayed with my brother n law and his girlfriend and her family... She has 28 acres north of Charlotte with 2 homes at the front of the property. We did lots of talking and lots of catching up, it was nice to visit. Senior and I did roll our eyes a few times with his brother as he is a die hard Liberal...the kind that believes Obama can do no wrong. He does not examine the facts and believes everything he sees on the news. So the best thing Senior and I could do was just not discuss politics at all.

 The best part about the staying in her house was she had a Jacuzzi tub...the boys went nuts in it when I poured in some bubbles and turned on those jets..The girlfriend is a very eclectic person, every room was a different color and abstract art covered her walls. We first walked in to her home and incense was burning everywhere.. She is also very "lovey dovey"..everyone gets hugs and kisses...
and well senior and I just aren't the huggie kind of people...

We left there on Sunday and headed down to Columbia and took the kids to the Zoo...they loved it! Especially the Penguin exhibit...our youngest got a real kick out of watching them. Then it was to a local "Fudruckers" for a good burger...we had hoped to relax in the pool at our hotel, but mother nature had other plans, it seems  all the rains in Florida found us in the Carolinas. Of course Senior was a bit bummed, his beloved South Carolina Gamecocks were playing baseball in the super regionals and we did not know it, he would have loved tickets to that game, but again mother nature caused it to be postponed. He did get a good deal on some new Gamecock T-Shirts though...so all was better.  : )

So, we are now safely back home, doing lots of laundry and getting back to our routine., It is so nice to go away and have a change of scenery, but darned if its not even better to be back home and in your own bed..   : )

It Finally Came!

Yesterday was Christmas in June for me. My custom designed Pirate Girl Tire Cover came, along with matching T-Shirt. It looks so much better then what I expected, you really can't tell that it is airbrushed. They then put a shiney sealer and protectorant on it for longer endurance in the hot sun.

And this is my matching T-Shirt. Can't wait to wear it this coming weekend..

Our Ingenius 5 and 6 year olds

Our boys today showed how inventive they can be with the development of their own little battle rifles, kids can be so darn creative......Gosh they make their parents proud!  : )


The five year old built his own AR-15. Complete with front sites, trigger guard, and did a re-design and put the gas rail on the bottom of the gun... Cant wait to see how she fires at the range..  : )

Our 6 year old came up with his own design called the "Dragon Assault Pistol"  includes trigger guard and dragon site for optimal performance. Apparently the Dragon also serves two other distinct purposes which have never been seen in an assault weapon , first as a  flame thrower, but more importantly if you hold on really tight to the gun, the dragon can take flight and get you out of a battle zone.

Senior was totally impressed with both weapons and is now in contact with  firearm manufacturers across the country.   :  )

Senior and the Neighborhood Watch Program

Some members of our community decided some time ago to start a neighborhood watch program. This decision was made prior to the entire Zimmerman/Martin issue. Senior is a very involved member in our community, our little company even has the lawn care contract. He attends monthly board meetings and is very visible throughout the day in here.

Our community is home to some 300 + residences, a clubhouse, pool, and recreation fields. It is a very nice quiet place to live. We do have our issues though, mainly with kids vandalizing the pool and clubhouse areas. Therefore, some home owners thought it would be a fantastic idea to form this watch program. Senior was all on board for it.

Then the Zimmerman case happened, and the paranoia struck. No watch member in our community would be allowed to carry concealed weapons. Senior was not a happy man. They ( the watch board members) put it in to a SOP, and wanted everyone to sign.
Senior refused and removed himself as a neighborhood watch member. For that I am so proud of him. He voiced his reasons for quitting through a group email, and stated that in no law; state or federal is there anything saying neighborhood watch members can't carry concealed. This is all a knee jerk reaction to the case in Sanford, Florida. Technically, if Senior wanted to push it, he could take legal action.
The watch committee in our community is led by an ATF pencil pusher who has in not so many words labeled Senior as a "Vigilante" because he carries. Let me remind you all, that most ATF guys believe that civilians should not own a firearm.

Senior, even though he is not in the watch program receives email updates of their little "patrols" and I must say it is all very silly and entertaining. They are now getting T-Shirts made to identify themselves as "neighborhood watch". I believe that once a person puts on that shirt...it is going to empower the individual wearing it to go beyond the definition of a "neighborhood watch" member. They have also started "roving patrols". complete with note pads, and flashlights. All I am waiting on next is little red berets...  : )
I feel like it is becoming a community police force. A person can't walk up and down the street without someone in the watch program reporting it. ..racial profiling is all ready at work with the descriptions I have seen via the emails.

But wait!!...no one can carry a concealed weapon...but can't anything become a weapon? That flashlight sure can, and so can the pen used for taking notes...again the thinking of liberal minded anti-gun activists! It  is enough to make you say "Grrrrrrr"

So, Senior and I will do what we have always done for the past 6 years ...sit in our garage, listen to the stereo at night and be our own neighborhood watch.....Stay tuned for updates...it could get interesting...

Last Day of School....

It is the last day of school for the boys. Once they walk out of the hallowed halls of their primary school we will have a First and Second grader..  (sniff sniff)
Where did this school year go? when did It pass me by? Oh, I know..it flew by on all those mornings I was up at 6am, yanking them out of bed, fixing breakfast and school lunches..arguing with them because no one had brushed their teeth. It passed me by when we were working on homework with our 6yr old and reading skills with the 5 yr. old.

Now, it is summer break ...Time to cool off in the sprinklers, have water gun fights. And stay up late around the fire pit roasting marshmallows. Summer is about playing with bugs and digging in the dirt for earth worms. Lets not forget going to the beach, playing in the waves, and building sand volcanoes...
Summer is the  time to head up to SC and see grandpaw, and throw rocks in his driveway, Eat ice cream, and watermelon and suck on popsicles and try our best to catch lightening bugs.

This is the time of year Senior and I  watch our boys enjoy the care free life of what being a kid means, and try not to think about them growing up and what their lives  and this world will be like when they are adults.

 This summer our oldest finally gets his own room, while he is excited about his "own space" It is making me terribly sad, I worry the youngest will miss his brother during the night. But, the time has come, and I am sure more often then not, we will find them bunked together. They are each others best friend, and as much as they fight...they also are dependent on one another. So, lots of transitions in our house this summer, growing up and growing out of things...  : (

The one thing mommy hopes...is she can survive it all.... ( sniff sniff)
