Our weekend went well, and very relaxing. We took our new bows, and NW got practice time in with the youth one he got for his Birthday last week :
Senior whipped out his new Diamond Infinitive Edge
Then on Saturday more rain showers, and Ruger decided he needed a drink of water.
Since Kymber commented how she loves swings. Here is another one that is on our property. My father in law put this one on a hill over looking the garden. I like to sit in it and watch the boys catch fire flies. Then there are some more scenic pictures. I love taking pictures of nature and rustic things. This is my Father in Laws old Farmall Tractor. He would load the boys up in that trailer and take them for a ride.
The gravel driveway now covered in weeds...lots of work to do to make it
look like it use to.
Some of the large flint rock boulders on the property. Hence the nick name "Rocky Top"
These in particular are my favorite as every year I pose the boys on them for pictures.
Rocky Top is so rocky that you can't dig more then a few inches in to the ground before hitting rocks. Over the many years of going there, I have brought back numerous small ones, they line the bottom of my fish tank, or sit as decoration on a table top.
Now we are back in Florida, It depressed me pulling in to the subdivision. My house may be here, but my home is there and we all know that home is where the heart is. Mine is on that place of beauty and peace. I think of it now just sitting up there alone and waiting on us to come back to it. Frozen in time, until the sound of laughter fills it again soon.....

Thanks Mom for sharing your photos of your county estate. You now know how we felt returning to MN and finding our home out in farm country. Rural America is the place to be. The stress just melts away.
ReplyDeleteWe would like to move to the mountains as well.
ReplyDeleteROB: Yes something about being in the country air, just de-stresses the soul. Going for a drive to no where down some two lane road, with the windows down and just taking it all in.
ReplyDeleteIt all does the body good.
DUKE: I know, Senior and I were wondering if you had done more property searches up there...
I will be making a trip to the mountains in a week or so.
DeleteGurlie - your FIL was one talented swing-builder (is that even a word?)!!! i can hear in your voice (writing) that you left your heart back there. you guys need to work out a plan on how to move there full-time. you guys can do it - i know it. then we can come and visit and me and you can sit on one of those swings with me sipping wine and you sipping a margarita made by jambaloney - he makes some killer drinks (was a waiter/bartender for almost 10yrs!). and he and the boys and Senior can all go practicing with their bows and me and you can just swing...and sip...and swing!
ReplyDeletethanks for putting up the pics! your friend,
kymber
What a beautiful place.I can see why you love it so much. kymer is right. It sounds like where your heart is truly happy there.
ReplyDeleteKymber: I don't think he actually built the swings, but he did do the support to hold them up. He was a contractor by trade and really good at building.
ReplyDeleteYes Gurlie-if you ever came to visit us there We would def. sit in the evening, swing, watch fireflies, with a cold adult beverage. Then we would take you guys down to the local diner for a good old fashioned, artery clogging, southern breakfast.
Eggs fried up in bacon grease...oh yeah!
Wow a Jambaloney margarita...can't wait! : )
SCI: Yes it is just like the pictures shows. I am so ready to have a chicken coop too. We are praying about a permanent move up there. A lot depends on Seniors job prospects.
Gurlie - there must be southern blood in the veins of cape bretoners! cape bretoners all save their bacon grease to fry up eggs and everything else - teeheehee! we love bacon-grease fried eggs up here!
ReplyDeletelots of love. always. xoxox
