Valentines and Shoppers..

As I was shopping this afternoon for Valentines for the boys to take to school. The candy aisle of "ChinaMart" was packed. This particular year I have opted for the little goldfish packages that the kids can write the "To and From" on--so much easier and cost effective.
I was standing there staring at the choices, when I felt my cart get pushed-- okay not really "pushed" more like "shoved" I looked around to see a young pakistani looking woman staring me down. Instead of asking to pass, or the courtesy of saying "Excuse me" she took it upon herself to push my cart..  "how rude"!  I thought. and shook my head. I don't think she liked my reaction and, as expected she did not apologize for the cart shoving. She pushed on past another shopper and walked down the aisle. Not allowing her rudeness to ruin my sunny day, I went about my shopping.
I was in a pleasant mood and was not going to let anyone rain on it.

So now we sit at home, writing out our valentines. NWs teacher sent home a class list on a piece of paper the size of a dime. Of course it has been lost.
 So ,now he is racking his brains trying to remember how to spell his classmates names. Two in particular has given him grief, and here I thought my name was a beast for people to spell. But, I give a nod to the originality of parents...there are some interesting spellings out there. My own parents included. I went two weeks without a name, until my dad sat with a pen and paper and started scribbling stuff down..  finally he came up with one my mom liked.

You know what I thought was cleaver about the advertising for any candy around a holiday? They market it in special packaging and raise the price. But you look on the opposite side of the aisle and there is the original packaging at the normal price. I discovered this with Christmas candy this past year. Halloween, Valentines, and Easter candy is no different. Stores really think customers are that clueless..  I saw two ladies who noticed it as well, and opted for the candy in the original wrappers.  Crazy Stuff Uh?

You Never Know..

This  has reached out to me and grabbed my heart. When I think of this love story, I get tears in my eyes. A local sailor was married prior to deploying to Bahrain for a year..
This past weekend he was struck by a car and killed. He has left behind his family, and a new bride. They were only married two months.

It reminds me just how short life is, and how little we really are in the scope of things.
Tell your family every day how much you love them and appreciate them, do the little things for them that matter. Tell them how important they are to you in your life.  Hug your children and kiss their little cheeks...Show  your family you care, because you never know when it could be for the last time.

This young bride received just such a gift the day  he passed away. Flowers were delivered along with a note from her husband....  One thing he sent to try to make her day brighter, And One last reminder to her, of just how much he loved her......

A Day Out

Senior and the crew took off to do some shooting. He needed guy therapy. So it was me and the boys. Knowing that my parents sit at home 6 days out of 7. I had the novel idea to invite them off with us.   
They came to our house to meet Mosin, then we headed off to the Island. And had a great burger at a local place that is a former gas station. 
Since my parents never exercise, I made them walk. First we went to the local farmers market...dang it! I had no cash on me. There was a lady selling honey and beeswax candles.   Oh well, maybe I can ride back down next Saturday....

Then we stepped in to the local "Sweet Shop" where this Snotty Candy Girl didn't want to answer our questions. God forbid she has people watch her make candy.Then they got even snottier because we did not buy any of their $17.00/pd Fudge. 

Then we walked to the end of the street and walked around the marina..  It was cold, windy and cloudy. Even the Pelicans were freezing: 

 I like this panoramic of the Marina. There is a little seafood restaurant I am hoping Senior takes me to for my Birthday next month. What day you ask? Here is a hint: Its a day hallmark created to sell more cards...

My Parents were ready to call it a day, so the boys and I went home collected Mosin and took him to the Pet Store. ND picked out new fish for his tank, and Mosin got a little buggy ride. He was exceptionally well behaved, and enjoyed his little field trip.  We just bought that harness Two weeks ago and it is all ready fitting tight. Time to find a bigger one.
