The thought is disgusting me.. but new research has shown that yes, materials that are found in "yoga mats, and Flip flops, have now been incorporated in over 500 foods that most of us probably eat every day.
Last night when the story first aired on our local news, Senior told me right away... I had to push "pause" on the remote because "Vikings" was airing..and well you all know I was not missing that.
So I went to see the news on the TV in his man cave...and Cringed :

WANNA YOGA MAT SANDWICH?
Ya know-Michelle Obama is so dang worried about obesity...she needs to make it her mission to get this and other chemicals out of the foods that are being sold.....
I thought that spam tasted familiar.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the low sodium spam... seems to be mainly in bread themed items...
Deleterolls eyes, shakes head side to side. Tell M.O. to go Foxtrot Oscar.
ReplyDeleteI would love to tell her that! lol
DeleteDaughter told ma last week that Hot Pockets were recalled because of non food items. I wonder if it was yoga mats. I don't buy them anyway. Much easier to make your own and you know what's in them!
ReplyDeleteI was at ChinaMart today getting a few things, and had this list pulled up with my reading glasses out..checking the ingredients of everything I was getting...
ReplyDeletePillsbury and Sara Lee are big companies that use it in thier products...Which is killing my kids because they love the Toaster Strudels in the mornings for breakfast that pillsbury makes..
How do you make home made hot pockets ? Is the recipe over at your blog?
Wonder how they would do at YOGA! Lol
DeleteHere is a good recipe. http://www.abeautifulruckus.com/2013/03/recipe-homemade-hot-pockets.html
Deletewhen you make the dough roll it out and cut it into 10 rectangles rather than 10 little balls and then roll. You can make all kind of fillers. Left overs as long as they are not too wet can even go in them. Pizza is a favorite but don't put much sauce to soak the bread. Maybe about 2 teaspoons and then your filler. All are freezable (cook and then freeze) and great to have on hand with hungry youngsters and Papa Bears looking for a snack
These homemade Toaster Strudels look doable and you will know what's in them! Think I will try some for the grandson. http://www.sheknows.com/living/articles/1003275/homemade-toaster-strudel
DeleteThank you So Much Mama! The home made hot pockets, would be good on baseball nights, when we are in need of a quick meal....
DeleteI was just looking at the toaster strudel recipe...and thought you can do a combo of crumbled breakfast sausage and cheese, for something really yummy, as well as bacon and cheese too....
DeleteYep...After you make, cook and freeze, all it takes is 60 seconds in the microwave to reheat. An on the go meal or after school snack. My daughter gets Won Ton wraps puts them in a mini muffin pan and stuffs those and cooks for pop in your mouth snacks. Haven't tried that yet.
DeleteLots of it in breads...
ReplyDeleteWhat did you think about Ragnar asking his wife if he could have the princess as a wife too? I told my wife it seemed like a fair solution to the problem but she did not concur!
ReplyDeleteTerrible ! And what was a real hoot is that the Princess had the audacity to add " Well these arrangements are becoming quite common place" \
DeleteI was waiting for Lagertha to reach over and slap her...
JUGM,
ReplyDeleteThis story broke a couple of weeks back for us. It started with Subway stating they will no longer make their bread with these chemicals. How many other foods have these chemicals inside of them, and people are eating these items not knowing and maybe even not feeling well? I'm so happy we make most of our foods, instead of buying a lot of prepackaged foods.
Hey Sandy.... The subway part broke here too a few weeks back, but then came the list of over 500 food items also with the same yoga mat ingredient.
DeleteYou don't realize how much food is affected by it until you go to the store and start reading labels.. it was staggering.
