Duck Dynasty New Vegan Calls

In case you missed it, last night was the season premiere of "Duck Dynasty" and it did not disappoint.  Senior and I were  laughing so hard over Uncle Si's Poodle retriever that it brought tears to our eyes.

Anyways, some of the Robertson family was then on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. The musical guest was some one named "Morrisey" I could not tell you who in the heck he is, but apparently he is a liberal tree hugging  vegan yuppie and he refused to perform  on the show with the Duck Dynasty guys, because they promote "The Serial Killing of Innocent Animals"

Well, I will let Jimmy's opening monologue speak for it self, So if you needed a good laugh today then enjoy:

Rain Rain Finally Went Away...

First off let me begin by saying a big THANK YOU to every one who commented about the adoption of Libby...Every one was so sweet and thoughtful. And Yes RED any time you can fly cross country, you are welcome to stop in and give her a squeeze.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It sort of started Saturday night..but the big stuff moved in during the early morning hours of Monday, then it was down hill from there.
It did not bode well for us trying to get Libby accustomed to her new yard and using potty in it, when we are having monsoonal rains for the better part of 28 hours. Our boxers are not fond of the rain...
Finally this afternoon it has cleared up. Our back yard was quazi flooded. Ruger found the puddles and proceeded to tromp through them like a pack of wild elephants. Little Libby was in tow.
She is adjusting well to her new home and family, she has taken over Rugers favorite blankie, his love seat, and his large femur bone he got for Christmas. Basically she has become the Queen.
One of these days we may afford dog training for her, and Ruger too.I am sure they would love it. My queen and king deserves the best. Perhaps the same handler that the Obamas use. I hear he comes cheap..  : )
Again another perk of being an Obama and being in the White House. Obviously the dog is really this guys, and the BO family only uses him as a photo op. Life is good when you are President......
Meet Liberty aka "Libby"
After 2 phone interviews, and one home inspection, and then another phone call  Thursday night in the middle of "Vampire Diaries"...we found out Friday we were approved for adoption.
I began to tear up..  I was so dang excited.  Thank You Every one for all your kind words of support.
Then Saturday Senior left for camping..I had tons of errands to run and get back home to tidy up before boxer lady brought our boxer baby to her new home.
I went shopping for every thing pink..pink tennis balls, pink stuffed elephant, and a pink baby blankie. Finally I have a little Fur-Daughter and can buy girlie things...  : )
There was adoption papers to sign and the fee paid. She is all ready spayed and has had her first two sets of vaccines. I just need to get the third set and her rabies completed.
She and Ruger sniffed each other out, they ran and played, she jumped on him, and he backed down to her level.  Her first night went well. The foster mom had all ready worked on house breaking them, so she knows to go outside, now she is getting adjusted to a new yard and home. But she settled down, and has fit right in. She even booted Ruger off his favorite blankie last night and fell asleep on it.
As far as she and Jack the Cat--well, she has tried to get acquainted but he hisses..however he is more tolerable with her then he was Mosin the Dobe puppy.
Senior was out camping with the guys last night, and she was there this morning to meet him, and give out lots of kisses. She even snuggled with me in bed...
We are so happy we found her, and could give the last puppy in the litter a loving forever home.
What started out as a sad story with the surrender of her pregnant mother has ended on a very happy note.
Must Clean House...
But here I am writing a post because I am nervous. I filled out our application for the puppy from Boxer Rescue, within a couple of hours, they called to do a phone interview, then this afternoon is our "Home Inspection" . There fore I should be cleaning, and picking up the house. Instead I am here talking to you good people about my nerves and the fact that I really hope to get this little girl.
I think some it is my whole biological clock thing, and wishing secretly for a daughter..At least with this one I won't have to worry about her hair in the mornings, or argue over clothes and boys.  I can dress her in pink doggie sweaters, and a harness. We can talk girl talk while she watches me cook dinner.
She could be a total terror...but yet, I know I all ready love her. I feel like she was meant for us, and our perfect little girl.
We certainly won't get her today, I said before it is a process. I think there is still one more meeting where we take Ruger to her foster home and etc. But so far things are progressing. The Rescue folks are wanting her placed permanently, and the rescue folks are working to help make that happen for us.
I think even Senior is excited too. He went off to run some errands and pay a visit to Stephen. No doubt they will be talking about the upcoming slumber party they are having this weekend. I think there is rain in the forecast..they all better pack some rain gear....
Okay, I need to go now, must dust, vacuum, pick up small little toys thrown around the floor, tidy up, hang laundry out to dry, and get Ruger looking all handsome and spiffy...
Wish us Luck !
I am hoping to Rescue a little girl..
Last night I found Boxer breeders on Ebay. So I emailed them. One responded this morning, and we sent emails back and forth. then I got curious and googled the name of her kennel. The first thing that popped up was in 2010 she was accused of running a puppy mill. The local news  for that area reported on it and I found the video. I was disgusted at the living conditions of the puppies..and I instantly said " NO WAY" . If I could afford to, I would buy everyone from her and save them..every thing was absolutely deplorable. My heart ached for all the dogs in her possession. She claimed to not be a puppy mill, however, You can not have that many dogs and not be one. They were housed outside in hand made, rickety cages. I wanted to cry.
Then I found our local Boxer Rescue. My heart began to melt, I said the heck with it and I filled out an application.
 They have this baby there she is around 10 weeks old, her sister has all ready been adopted. So I am hoping she is still available. If not, then there are a couple of others around the 1-2 year range, that we could possible give a home too.  There are fees for adoption, they do like to come meet with you prior to placement, but that is expected. I would rather give our money to help save a life and benefit a worthy cause then to a two bit breeder who is in it for the money..
My fingers are crossed and my prayers have been said that we can rescue one of the babies.  We have a lot of love to give, and Ruger would love a play mate.   NW has already came up with names : "Rossi" or "Liberty" after our new safe.  : )
We got a new Washer yesterday..YAY!  And the best part..Its another Kenmore!  We did more shopping around at the major home improvement stores, but I just wasn't happy with the prices, or the brands. Then I remembered there was a small Sears Homelife Store out on the Island. We also got it for about 150.00 less then what the big stores wanted for the other brands.
  I am a happy glock mom today...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Super freezing weather here today, frost and ice on every thing. I have had a Split leaf Philodendron in the back yard, that has not had a chance. So yesterday I dug the poor thing up and potted it. Now it is in ICU in my sun room getting lots of warmth, and TLC. It is a special little plant to me, because it was planted over the spot where our two special female kitties are buried. We had them for over 15 years and they died within months of each other. So I am passionate about saving the plant.

Off to get my car serviced today, boys are out of school. then its baseball practices tonight. : )
Yay!  and in the freezing cold!!!   Double YAY !!!!

Sunday, Sunday

It turned cold here...really cold. So cold that when Senior ran the sprinklers over night ice formed on every thing. This cold spell is suppose to last for the next couple of days. Fortunately tomorrow is a holiday and we can sleep in. YAY!

I did my drawing on Friday, and I have only heard from one winner. If I don't hear from the other 2, by Tuesday I will do a Re-Draw.

I emailed Mosins new owner and he sent pictures. The big boy is doing really well in his new home.
I am still on my search for a new little female boxer-but every thing I see is either mixed with a pitbull or they want an exuberant amount for the purebred puppy.
It does make me sad looking over some of these ads, you want to be able to bring them all home. but you can't. And I am learning at just how bad pitbulls are over bred in this country.. I don't want one. When I worked at the army vet. facility, I was lunged at by a male pitbull, then when I was 7mos. pregnant with ND I was bit by one in the leg..  All though I do understand that as far as the AKC is concerned there actually is no such thing as a pitbull..Its a name given to a mix of the AmStaff and Bull Terriors...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We are now after 16 years having to shop for a new washing machine. It is making me sad that my old reliable Kenmore has finally bit the bullet. I use to have 2 things I hated to shop for : Swimsuits and Cars..now add appliances to that list. Everything is just so expensive, and I worry about the quality of things made these days. Currently we are looking at a Samsung, it has a 5 star rating, and a 10 year warranty on the motor etc..  Plus the price is in our range. I like it because while its a top loader, it does not have an agitator in the middle.
ND is calling for breakfast, I told him I would make an omelet, but he cringed his little nose.. oh well. I am not a restaurant.
Enjoy your Sunday, I will enjoy appliance shopping... ( sarcasm)
Happy Valentines Day...
That special day is here.. Gather up your sweetie and go out to dinner, or make them a nice surprise. I am currently baking all three of my boys M&M cookies..that is their little valentine present from mommy...
Baseball is in full swing, and both boys have practices tonight. NW finally got drafted and he is a proud little "Dodger"  Senior is helping out with coaching.
I am doing the drawing for the cards this afternoon, so GOOD LUCK to all who entered. Tomorrow I will do a post announcing the lucky ladies who won.
Last night I watched a terrible movie: "Battleship"..  NEVER watch a naval movie with a retired sailor..Senior kept coming in the room pointing out all the errors. I did find it funny when the "Missouri" got underway ...those old guys cracked me up.  All I can say is, thank the Lord I did not pay to see it in a theatre...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In case you did not guess it early this week Today is also my Birthday. Yes I am a valentines baby.   WOW 28 !!! I can't believe it! My day started by getting the boys to school, then I came home, climbed back in bed and buried myself under the covers in a dark room.

My mother called to wish me "Happy Birthday" she then proceeded to tell me that at precisely 5:07am she was awoken with sharp baby pains...but now they have subsided and she felt like she had given birth to a watermelon...lo/. I told her she has to experience it all over again because my sisters birthday is the 16th. : )
Senior all ready gave him his gift, it was my new rifle.We went shooting yesterday and it performed flawlessly..I really love it.
The boys have a little something for me as well, but I guess I will get that when they are home from school. Due to practices tonight, we are doing dinner out tomorrow night..can't decide where to go though.

Now I am off here to make my sister a Birthday card..again HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERY ONE!

JUGM's Very First Give-a-Way

As most of you know, this week is my Birthday. It falls on that special day that Hallmark created to sell more cards. So, to celebrate...I am giving all my readers a chance to win ONE of THREE sets of SIX note cards, all designed and hand crafted by me. Some are complete works of art, others aren't. But All are lovingly created and special.  My theme for these sets was, as you can guess "flowers and butterflies".  They are blank inside, and can be used for any occasion-with the exception of 2 cards that I stamped with "HELLO" but then I did not do any more, because the stamp as I soon realized was off and the "O" was lower then the other letters...    : (  sorry

 Just comment on how you would like to win. I will write your name down, and then they will be placed in our Atlanta Braves Batting Helmet. I will then have NW, ND, and Senior each pick a name.
I will keep this post up until the drawing. The Deadline to Enter is 12 noon on February 14th.
The Drawing will be that evening and on Friday the 15th. I will announce the 3 lucky winners.

And Guy's don't be afraid to enter these also make nice gifts for your ladies. Or, you may have a lady friend or a family member that would be over the moon to get one of my creations in the mail from
you.

Early Birthday Present

My birthday is still a few days away, but today I got this beauty. Its a Smith and Wesson M&P 15-22
I did not intend of getting an early present today, however we were out shopping for .22 ammo. Which by the way doesn't exactly grow on trees anymore.

We walked in to one of our favorite gun shops. They had a stack of the S &Ws on sale. I really could not decide. did I really want another gun? I did but I didn't. I  wanted something girlie..ya know?  But still...I liked it.  And they were flying off the shelves...several people were buying 2-3 at a time.
So Senior and the boys walked away and left the decision up to me. I looked over the counter and saw one in pink camouflage, I held it, and loved it a lot. It was Pink for crying out loud...it was girlie and a gun--what was not to love!
So, I decided I wanted it. And as usual and par for my course it was not one of those listed on sale. They wanted another whole $150.00 just for the paint job on it.Senior talked me in to the black matte and promised we could do things to make it what I want...Now it is my new project rifle.

Why do I like it? because the components are exactly like the AR-15. Therefore I can stay proficient in the handling for when the time comes to actually shoot my AR.  Of course that is IF we can ever find ammo for the .22 .  The gun shop did allow one box of .22 sold IF you bought something chambered in that caliber-at a whopping $40.00 for 525 rounds..OUCH !

I like the label around the barrel...I feel like Minnie Pearl who never took off the price tag....

Fireside Chit Chat

Yesterday one of our neighbors "E" had a birthday party for her husband "J" It was an all day affair for them. however, since Senior had just got back from seeing his dad, he rested a bit. I cooked him a good supper, then we decided to walk over.
Most every one there was in their late 20s, or early 30s.. We were a bit out of our age group though, Plus we had kids.

"E and J" are good neighbors and we wanted to hang out. Plus, they are very Second Amendment. and Both carry concealed. And they like to camp. It is a hoot though, because She is from Sicily, and being European you wouldn't think her that way.

Senior was in his delight talking about tent and primitive camping with the guys, He really wants to do a trip along the AT (Appalachian trail) preferably in the spring. All he had to do was mention it last night, and all the eyes light up. "J" has trail guides and books on the subject.

Then the conversation turned to gun. One of the wives,"A" was talking about purchasing a new hand gun for her husband. They first couldn't decide between Glock, and Sig Sauer, or something like that..(I did have a rum shot in me, and a rum and coke).  That is when the topic pretty much went to "A" and I  and the men fell silent, as I discussed with her the various hand guns I own and carried. I told her I had to go through a few until I found my perfect one, which of course is my Glock 26 Gen. 4 or as Senior likes to call it "The Baby Glock".  Senior then told the group about one of my first carry guns; the Judge. "J"'s eyes gleamed. perhaps one day I will let him shoot it.  Then "E" came out, and talked about her Lady Smith and Wesson with the laser grips, which led me to discuss my new Smith and Wesson Bodyguard. 380.

I tell ya, nothing beats a warm fire, good drink, and gun talk amongst the girls, We are the new face of the gun owner in this country, and talking about it with these girl last night, just made me believe it even more. So many women carry concealed, women whom you wouldn't even think. It is our voice that will help to save our Second Amendment Rights.

 And as far as the guys, well they ended up playing with ND and NW who were a huge hit....

My Shot Show Goodie Bag Came

Last Saturday I was sick in bed most of the day with a raging migraine, but by the  afternoon I was feeling better so I logged in to blogger. I was so excited  to see I was one of the winners of the  GunDivas  Shot Show goodie bags. Seeing my name, made me perk right up.
Then today It came in the mail :

Got lots of cool stickers, I took the 2 Rifle ones at the bottom and made them in to a car magnet. I also got a autographed picture of Steven Rinella host of the "Meat Eater" show on the Sportsman Channel He has also done a series on the Travel Channel called " The Wild Within"

Being the Glock Girl that I am, My favorite item is this little beauty:

The boys were completely nuts over all the stickers, and confiscated a few of them. ND found this temporary tattoo  and cammo rubber bracelet. He Immediately stuck the tattoo on his arm before his older brother could grab it, now he doesn't want to wash it off...

So, a big THANK YOU GunDivas for this awesome prize and for sharing your goodies from the Shot Show.

Pet Peeves

My list of them is never ending. I could go on and on and on..  I guess I am just a little "you know what".

Take nosey neighbors for instance. We have our own Mrs. Kravitz..only it should be "Mr. Kravitz". anything out of place he has to complain about, or question. He doesn't even live on this side of the neighborhood, but for some reason  a car parked on the street is suddenly his business...

People driving in the fast lane...change lanes please!

Drivers who can't change lanes if I am trying to turn on to a street. This happens all the time on the highway in front of our subdivision. I will have to stop and wait for the yahoo driving in the right hand lane because he or she can't get over to allow me to pull out. 9 out of 10 times typically there won't be any other cars around either.

And what about people who put every little thing that happens to them as their facebook status? Your kid took a poopy today! Does the entire free world need to know that?  I have one of these such friends on FB, I think Its time to "Hide" her again.

Individuals who EXIT through the ENTER door. This usually happens at Chinamart. I think they skipped that day in school when reading was taught. I typically like to make a smart comment about it.

Irresponsible parents. I get irked out of my mind when I am dropping the boys off at school and I see how some of these kids look. Unkept or dirty hair, dirty clothes.. I understand if a parent can't afford a lot for their kids. But C'Mon!..you can at least wash and fix their hair and have their clothes cleaned.
There is one little first grade boy, we see him every day. His hair is so long that he looks like a girl.
I am not against long hair. But, if you are going to let your son wear his hair like that, then comb it, and maybe brush it back in to a pony tail or at least trim it up.

Customers who think we have to drop every thing to take care of their lawn or landscaping needs.
Senior taught me a phrase he learned in the Navy that as become my mantra in the business world:

"Piss Poor Planning On YOUR Part, Doesn't Constitute Crisis Management On Mine"
I love that phrase so much I think I am going to slap it on a T-Shirt and wear to Chinamart.. : )

This has also been evident with us this week in the issue with NWs baseball sign ups..more kids then expected registered. The league did not plan for this and they did not have enough coaches.
Would it have been so hard to get your coaches lined up first, and registered accordingly?
therefore they have been calling every parent asking for coaches..thus laying a guilt trip on the parents.
And then there is this  T- ball mom on the league facebook page: "I got a call that it starts this Monday? I thought the season started in March?"  hello!  its called PRACTICE.  Gosh! I really want to respond .. So I did. In a nice diplomatic way.

Then the matter of Gun Safety... I am a huge supporter of gun rights..but I swear some of these folks have no business owning a fire arm. There are some scary people at the ranges...

So, we all have pet peeves, I have shared some of mine with you. I am betting some of you think people who complain (ie: me) is a pet peeve. And you are probably right. I do complain. An EX friend even called me "Catty" once. We won't go in to why she is now an EX friend, because that is whole nother "Pet Peeve" of mine.
Maybe I just think that God gave people common sense, it would be nice if they took it out and played with it once in a while..

Painful Cuts Starting...

If you have been following my for any length of time, then you know that last year when the issue of thte ERB came out, I was all over it. It is bad when the Fleet 4 Star is on the cover of Navy Times talking about it.
Do you notice the bottom line?
"How it could break the Navy"

The ERB has not only caused pain and suffering, but it has caused suicides and divorces. From what I am also understanding, if you got ERB'd and received severance, before you start getting any sort of disability, you first have to pay back the severance..
If you were some one that was cut, let this serve as a reminder that no one is safe, not the little E-1 or all the way up to Admiral. They dont care about all your awards and accolades, they don't care what merits and medals you have received. You are open game and your neck is on the chopping block.
 It makes these guys feel like their years of service and sacrifice has meant nothing.

Our military is getting slapped in the face, because this administration cares more about the welfare state, and entitlements then it does national defense. It wants to deplete this Nation of its great military might, and open us up to forward more of his agenda.

I am so thankful that Senior got out when he did. I really feel for these guys and their families. The part about longer deployments is correct...Our neighbor leaves this week he will first be gone from Feb-August. Home for 2 months. Then back out again until March of 2014.

Sunday....

It is Superbowl Sunday, to lots of people it doesn't mean a thing. But I like it. Once I even won $100.00 off a bet. So I enjoy the game. Dish Network thought is convenient though to mess up our satellite receiver..a huge fiasco, Senior colorfully cancelled Dish, now we are signed on with DIRECT, but they won't be here until Tuesday to install the new hard ware.
No worries on missing the big game, neighbors invited us over, and my crafty husband ran a 100ft. cable from our campers HD antenna to the TV in his man cave. We at least have the major networks until Tuesday.

On another note. Mosin is now with a new home. He and Ruger were not getting along well. Mosin had taken to start biting Ruger. And on Thursday, when Ruger walked past him, Mosin jumped up and got him on the rear-end. It bled for quite a bit. And I was constantly having to keep the two separated. It was getting very stressful in our house. So, we found a single dad, and his two college student sons. One runs track so that will be perfect for Mosin. The dad has had Dobermans before so he was very familiar with the breed. it was a perfect fit. Plus they paid us almost entirely what he paid for him.  I don't regret getting him, he is a good little boy, He just needed to be in a home where he was the only Male dog.

So, now we have learned a lesson of having 2 dominant breeds of Males in the house, and are now looking for a Female Boxer. Preferably tan with a black mask. Senior keeps throwing other breeds out there at me, but I just love Boxers, I guess because of the one we currently own, and how they are  with kids. Ruger Loves ND and NW. And watches over them like a Hawk.

I am now a baseball mom..and super excited about it. The little draft is tomorrow night, and we will soon get a call telling us which team NW is on. ND is the T-ball age, and they don't draft. But They were super cute today trying on cleats...only ND kept calling them "sweets"  lol....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a Sad note..American lost a great Patriot and Hero yesterday-- Former Navy Seal Chris Kyle. I pray for his family and friends--for all those who knew him personally and were touched by his life.
RIP Chris.
Military Health Care Cuts
  Our men and women raised their hands and pledged an oath to this country. To honor it and defend it. For decades they have done their jobs, and now because our government can not pay its bills, they want to cut health care benefits to our active duty and retired personnel... BUT, the unionized DoD is not affected...WTF!!!!
http://newmediajournal.us/indx.php/item/8218#.UQxoa1Q1eaa.facebook
A few years ago, when Senior was still active, and I regularly used the base clinic and pharmacy. I heard some thing similar to this from a Pharm. Tech Behind the counter. What he told me was that it was being proposed that Active Duty would have to start paying a co-pay for prescriptions. I looked at him like he was smoking crack..no way would they do that to our guys..
 Do you know the impact of something like this could have on a active duty family? let me be the first to tell you, a E1-E5 pretty much makes beans!.  I remember how hard it was for Senior and I when he was a Second Class, that was in the 90s before kids. I can only imagine now. We lived paycheck to paycheck, and that was with me working. We .did not start seeing a change until he made E6, but it got much better when he made E7.
Therefore this is going to financially hurt a lot of military families who do not deserve being slapped in the face for their sacrifice to country. He is dismantling our military to a point of where we won't have one anymore. Absolutely criminal.
