The rain is falling light but steady. Enough to where the boys can run and play with out getting soaked. They have holes in the lids of jars and catching fireflies.
We are at our Country Estate for the Independence day weekend. Mr. Farmer (the neighbor down the road) surprised the boys with a tire swing. One of my most treasured childhood memory is of playing on the tire swing in my grandmothers back yard. Since he hung it up, they have not stayed off it.
me when I say Happy 4th. He says the 4th is just a date. What we celebrate is our countries Independence from tyranny.
We had a bit of work to do. Had to mow and work on killing fire ant mounds. Senior wanted to plow the garden area but its too wet up here.
We look around our little bit of property that we inherited and wonder what to do..If we decide to sell it..wow! we could pay off all our bills. But then this has been in our family for several decades, its peaceful, beautiful , has lots of potential, and our boys are extremely happy here. If Senior landed a good job near by then its a no brainer.
The rain is letting up, the sun is breaking through the clouds. It begins to shine over the un-plowed garden area. Maybe that is Gods way of answering us.....

oh i loooove the wood swing, Gurlie and i love the tire swing too! i have had swings all of my life...and hammocks...i love being suspended in the air! don't know if you know it or not, but Senior invited us down for the weekend. we would have gone in a blink if you weren't 59 million miles away. it sounds like you had a great weekend, and Senior is right - it's not a celebration of july 4th but of something much bigger...and more meaningful...even to us canadians.
ReplyDeleteGurlie - you better promise that you took more pics or i am coming down there to throttle you - bahahahaha! and do another post on what you did and how you enjoyed yourselves. i am so glad that you guys had such a nice time as i know the stress you both have been under for the last several months with everything that has been going on.
as for selling or keeping the country estate...oh Gurl - don't ever it let it go. my father, a poor, sad uneducated coalminer always told me that the only way to be rich was to own your own land. it was always his dream to own some land. i finally own my land. so please keep it, unless circumstances change. but having your own land - it means you are rich!
so much love to you and yours, Gurlie, are always being sent your way! your friend,
kymber
Gurl my father in law put 3 swings like that on the property. That particular swing in the picture has been my most favorite. Its been here as long as I can remember. I've read many books while sitting it. Swung both my babies in it, cuddled with Senior in it. Sat there after my FIL passed away and cried...Yep! Lots of memories in that ole swing.
Deletees taking lots of pics for more log posts..I promise to share..sure don't want you to throttle me..lol
Keep the land. Move there. Get away from the cities.
ReplyDeleteIt is that simple.
Yep, keep it, they're not making anymore of it...
ReplyDeletePP: agreed. While we currently reside in a community. Fortuantly even that is in a rural area. No way, no how would I live in a city.
ReplyDeleteNFO: We talked to a realtor in NW Georgia up in the mountains there and she told me that people are buying up land, and that its a hot commodity right now....wonder why!
Because anybody with any sense is getting the hell out of urban areas, or at least getting land that is OUT of urban/suburbia...
DeleteI would always keep the land. My folks have property north and when the crap rains down that's where I'm headed. No supplies stored as of yet but its on a river feed lake with plenty of fish and woods nearby.
ReplyDeleteApparently my blog was deleted tonight. I was the middle of replying to comments and got booted off and from that point on it was "Blog not found". Even went through a reset and nothing.
ReplyDeletePP: Are you using internet explorer? It has happened to me before. And then I will go through Google chrome and it will be there
DeleteThe glitch I always get is that there are no blogs in my reading list. I hope you don't have to re-do everything.... good luck
