just in time for Christmas....

" In a bold move today that is sure to create controversy among fans of the company, Mattel announced its new Barbie doll; ‘Public Assistance Barbie’ will be marketed directly to inner-city youths and children of welfare recipients.

”Since 1959 Barbie dolls have been through major changes to reflect the times we live in. Today with over 40% of Americans on some sort of public assistance, we felt the time was right for ‘Public Assistance Barbie,” said Mattel spokesman Rick Reynolds. “After doing research on people receiving assistance, we have come out with what we think is a fair and sensitive portrayal of that kind of person with our new doll. Each Public Assistance Barbie will come with a new Cadillac, Puma sweats, a pack of Newports, an Obama phone, an EBT card, and a rack of Budweiser. She will also come in three styles: heavily tattooed and pierced, pregnant and smoking, and a ‘black eye’ version from when drunken Ken beat her for not paying the cable bill. Public Assistance Barbies will be on the shelves in time for your holiday purchases, and will come in special theft-deterrent boxes. EBT cards cannot be used to purchase, unfortunately.”

“That is the most racist shit I ever heard of,” said Laquisha Lamont, a welfare recipient in Queens, New York. ”That’s stereotypical bullshit. I ain’t got no Cadillac! I do wear Puma sweats, smoke Newports, and I have a tramp stamp, but I drive a Chrysler 300, and that ain’t no Caddy! It’s so typical for them to make a doll like that, and show it off on kid’s TV. Now I will have to get one for my daughter when my unemployment check comes in. Damn toy companies!”

Pensions and Stuff

Believe it or not, I am still here. This morning Senior asked me If I had looked at his blog post from last night. I said "No, I really haven't been on blogger on almost two weeks" which he then said "yea I know"
So now this is me, checking in on blogger and doing a post. I breezed through some of the blogs I followed and left a comment or two.
That darn bronchitis was kicking my butt as well as Seniors, then the boys started with it. Then ND brought home a stomach bug. Thankfully it was short lived, but not before making the rounds through all four of us.

And while all that was going on, My brother decided to become ( actually he all ready was one) a complete and vicious SOB. Senior said something to him he did not like, and took it personally. Then all "you know what" ensued. Now we are not speaking. He is back living out in Washington state with his Raleigh party girl and her teenage son, which BTW did NOT make it in to the Army..
That is the same kid that my  brother picked up in a walmart parking lot, the one he was trying to help out...yep!  no Army for him. So, my brother and his train wreck life are way the heck out there,  As far as I am concerned family or not, he can stay there.  *SIGH*

Now there is my parents, my dad is worried about his pension. The man worked 35 years as a firefighter and retired gracefully. Now the city wants to play with pension reform. That money is owed to my dad, and every one else who has retired from a career.
Plus, look at the recent vote by the federal government in reference to  veterans  pension and disability...  *sigh*   really does get me worked up, because these folks signed a contract when they enlisted and to me if pensions are taken away then the government is in breach of those contracts.
That is just my thought on the entire situation.
Can't we all agree that there are other programs that can be cut? ie: EBT cards, or SNAP ?
The other day I ran in a gas station while Senior waited. A young girl was in front of me..she purchased gas for her car, cigarettes, and lotto tickets..and do you know how she paid for it? with her EBT card. Then, she gets in her car, which was a brand spanking new GMC Acadia.
"GRRRRRRR" I thought. So much abuse of the system. And you can tell when a person is paying with that card, because the cashier goes to a special register for it.

Okay now my pension rant is over... I hope Senior will be happy I posted something..

Broken Eagle

As I dusted the table tops this morning, my blog post for today became apparent. Our American Eagle's wing was broken. Not sure how it happened, or when. But as soon as I moved it to dust, the thing just fell off.
It Made me think of the countries current situation. Like that ceramic wing, America is broken. Much of the government is shut down, and we are about to extend our debt ceiling once again. We have no money, and owe China our backsides.
I feel we are so far gone that the only thing to turn us around is a total economic collapse. Maybe some folks need that. Perhaps suddenly being launched  100-200 years into the past is what is needed.

Those who voted for this, Those who even did it twice. I compare them to the loyalist who sided with King George during the Revolutionary War. The loyalist were promised gold, and land if they took up arms against their own countrymen and fought for the crown.
Today it is the voice of a benevolent dictator, and the promise of free cell phones, free health care, free housing, and free money that keeps his loyalist loyal. If he asked them to take up arms against those who oppose him, I have no doubt they would.

With a little super glue I fixed the eagles wing. Aw if it were all only that simple...
She looks like nothing happend, she looks better, but underneath she is left more fragile then before. Her wing forever compromised. Another drop, or being mishandled, and she will once again be broken........
