Keystone Rejected!

I hope everyone is comfortable with paying over 3.00 a gallon for gas, because its about to sky rocket. Today the administration is set to announce the rejection of the Keystone Pipeline.
For those of you who haven’t kept up, it is a planned pipeline from Canada to Texas. If the United States doesn’t jump on it, then Canada will build it out in to the Pacific and ship that oil over to China.
Obama initially wanted to delay his decision until after the 2012 election, but Congress forced his hand and gave him a 60 day notice.

The work alone on this pipeline would create initially some 20,000 jobs which would potentially grow into 100,000 and give our country a much needed financial shot in the arm.

The reason for rejecting it is Environmentalist concerns and those all important carbon emissions..

In a time when you have Iran, wanting to block the Straits of Hormuz, and threatening Saudi Arabia if they increase output. You have Nigeria and all the conflicts there… why wouldn’t you, as an administration want to help your citizens? John Boehner was correct in saying this move is derelict.
The only positive I see coming from the rejection of this, would be a nail in the coffin for Obamas re-election. And it would be a weapon for who ever his opponent is in November. And he has to give justification to congress on why he made the decision..

Women and Children Safety

Wednesday evening Senior made me sit down and watch an episode of one of his gun shows, it was about women and children safety. 9 out of 10 times I am out shopping, I usually have at least one or both kids with me. And they always get me sidetracked with one thing or the other.
I get looks and comments all the time in stores, especially in regards to our youngest. He is very outspoken, and doesn’t meet a stranger. We have had our hands full with teaching him about “Stranger dangers”
I will tell you all right now; I am a real B---- when people approach my children. Once, some elderly lady saw shoes untied on my oldest and without asking me she took it upon herself to tie them, and I let her have it, I am sorry, but no body touches one of my kids.

So in this episode I watched, there was a mother and son being followed home by 2 home invaders, in the first scenario she was clueless and her husband got shot and killed. Second scenario she hurried in the house, told her husband she was being followed and husband shot both intruders dead. The third and final scenario had her being aware of being followed, calling her husband and keeping him on the phone until she led the strangers to the police station and to safety.

Since watching the show, I have started making it a habit to be more aware of who is around me, especially while getting in the vehicle, which I believe is when I am at my most vulnerable. I have taken notice of people in line with me at stores, and getting mental pictures of them in my head. It is my hope that I can hone this mental skill now so that if the time ever arises that I need to give the police a description that I will be sharp with details. However, I know that all this is good and a great exercise… but as a concealed weapons carrier with 2 small children, I will defend my family first.

Update on missing Virginia Beach Sailor

Unfortuantly this did not have a happy ending. My thoughts and prayers goes out to his family, but I do feel with the Navy's ERB and laying off over 2000 sailors that we will see more of this.

Sean Hatfield was last seen on January 1st. He was reported missing by his wife, Nikki, when she came home from her job as a firefighter and Sean was gone.
Nikki knew Sean was depressed about losing his job in late 2012, but he was fine over the holiday. On New Years Eve he was sick with the flu. His wife who was bunking down at the station for the night sent Sean a text message, reports WTKR News.
She told him , "I am going to bed and I hope you feel better, I will see you in the morning. and he wrote back, I love you and that was it," said Nikki.
When she got home, Sean's car was there, his wallet and keys but he was not.
The Virginia Beach police searched for Sean, but they could not locate him.

On Thursday, they return to the home on Aloma Court in Landstown Meadows area of Virginia Beach when Nikki called to say that she saw blood in her garage. The police took a closer look at the plywood enclosure nailed in the attic gables. When they pushed on a piece of plywood it came loose and they found Sean's body in the rafters. A weapon was also found near the body.

Rep Allen West (R-FL) and the Recent Marine Issue

Most of us in Florida knows who Rep. Allen West is (R-FL) he is a 22 year former combat veteran, he is a conservative, an all around Bad A$$, and a real pain in the side of Obama .He is a  great American , and personally one of my heros that I could one day see in the White House. So it came as no surprise to me when he commented on the recent incident with our marines and the dead taliban soldiers, but what I particularly  like is his last sentence..

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) on the Marines Incident:

"I have sat back and assessed the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers, Shugart and Gordon, had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu.
...
"Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and ...hung from a bridge in Fallujah. All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill.

"Does anyone remember the two soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

"The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps. It should be videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

"As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell."
