as the rooster crows...

I know this is silly, because for most of you a crowing rooster is a dime a dozen and a daily occurrence. But, these are our first experience with owning chickens, and we were over the moon today when one of our Banty Roosters aka: "The God Father"  (It's a long story) . Found his voice and has been singing ever since :

    1. The coop is actually a bit away from the house. Today I noticed he did not sing at all for us.

  4. You would have had a great laugh at me while we lived on the ranch. I read somewhere that roosters havd to learn to crow from another rooster. So I would go out in the mornings and cry like a rooster....I am giggling at myself right now...I must have looked ridiculous! ...anyhoo I would cry or sing however you want to interpret that and he started mimicking my sound. I was so proud until someone said that rooster sounds like he is sick in his voice.....I wonder if I sounded tbat terrible really.....Poor guy didn't have a chance to find his own voice!
Happy yours found his.....hope he doesn't wake the ol man!

    1. That is a funny .
I know I am such a chicken geek...but it is hilarious watching them all. We mimick ours as well, or we play recordings for them. They look at us like we are nuts. lol

  5. It wouldn't be home without your rooster crowing. Mine start about 5 a.m.

    1. we have 5 roosters, and so far he is the only one crowing. Can't wait to hear them all at the same time. We have a neighbor quite a bit away, and when the wind is still, you can hear his Gamecock crowing...kind of cool

  7. JUGM,

The God Father is feeling his oats now, lol.......
Watch out he may start forming a hierarchy on the property, lol.......

I think it's fantastic your chickens know deep down their at home now and feeling real comfortable. I bet the boys are excited now that one of the roosters is talking.
Love to you, Senior, and the boys.
