Happy Thanksgiving

I want to wish all my blogger family a very Happy Thanksgiving.. I hope you all enjoy your holiday, Enjoy the time with family and friends. And remember to set your scales back 10#s tonight....ha ha ha!!!

I was also told that since I put a picture of Libby up on Sunday, it was only fair that I had to post one of Ruger....so here is Ruger:   He often gets confused with the American Bulldog, but he is not. He is a white boxer, and an all around big puss...  Libby is his boss....lol

Sundays, Coffee and Boxers.....

If that face doesn't wake you up on a cold and windy Sunday morning I don't know what will...  That is our little angel "Liberty Bell"  aka Libby, aka Mrs. Wigglesworth. Oh the nicknames we have for her are endless. Having her around does make life fun.....

Well it has turned off clear and cold here, winds yesterday and today have been annoying though. We have been trying to get out and take care of leaves but its pointless with all the high winds. Fall color is late, but truly vibrant this year. Autumn is one reason why I am happy we made the move to the estate. By far my most favorite season.

Thanksgiving is this week, and I have to be honest and say I am not at all mentally ready for the holidays, it will be the first without dad and basically mom too. The past few days have been a bit emotional for me, as I recall all the past holidays when they got on my last nerve and wish so much to have those times back...never take your family for granted, no matter how many times they annoy you.

My sister visited mom on Friday, her weight-loss continues to get worse, she did get on the phone with me for a few seconds. I was pleased to hear her reading my name and phone number off the caller ID of my sisters phone. She told me she loved me, which made my day. I have missed talking to her and our almost daily phone calls. hearing her voice perked me up.

Now time to vent a bit...I don't mean to sound like a broken record in reference to my brother, but I need to let it out...so here goes. A couple of weeks ago, my sister who has access to my parents banking info was trying to log on to their account, well the password had been changed.  knowing she did not do that she immediately went to the bank and had everything redone. She could not figure out how it got changed since she never did it. A few days later she was packing some computer things up of my dads to send back to AT&T, as she went to get his computer modem she realized that the tower for dads desk top computer was missing...  My brother had been there and taken it! Which now explains the online banking info being changed.
My sister never curses...but let me tell you she did that day to me on the phone....  Thankfully no money was transferred out of the parents account, and now everything has since been changed and more security measures added so my brother can't get in to it.

And in addition to the computer he also took two collage picture frames of one of kind pictures of my mother when she was a little girl and of my dads family. Instead of offering to make copies for my sister and I , he didn't. We will never see those pictures again...  Which is very heartbreaking to me, because my sister and I would have liked a set.

I absolutely can not wait for the new guardianship to take over....   We are preparing ourselves for a new onslaught of his nastiness- the attorney did the paperwork we need to sign and it says "That  my sister and I chose an outside guardian because we believe our brother to be incapable of taking proper care of our mother".... Holy crap when he sees that, my brother is going to throw a real fit!
 We still think he is in Franklin, NC ...but honestly with all the smoke and fires going on its hard to believe he is still living in the campground.

Okay enough venting, and chores are calling, the chickens are going to feed themselves....Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Happy Thanksgiving

Senior had to work today and the boys were out of school, by the afternoon they were not getting along so I made them sit and write 20 things they were thankful for, it was met with groans, grunts and rolling eyes. What they wrote made me smile:

Then I started thinking of all the things I am Thankful for every day of the year. The list really is long, because there are so many things. But top of it would be my husband and children... A love that has endured lots of rough times and how we have stayed together through thick and thin. The three men in my life holds my heart in their hands and we have all been truly blessed

From our home to yours..We hope God blesses you all with a Very Happy Thanksgiving...

Field Trip Tuesday

The weather was awful. It rained buckets but it did not stop NDs class from going to a horse farm for a field trip.

I was reluctant..but it was actually a pretty
cool place. Three huge barns with horses, goats, rabbits and chickens. And two turkeys.
Yes my son asked if they were going to be dinner on Thursday. The nice lady said no, she raised them and they are pets. I was surprised at how docile they were around the kids.

Rain is moving  north and cold weather is due to move in. We got lots going on this week so if I dont find the time to do a post. Then I hope you all have a Happy Thanksgiving.

HealthCare Update ..And Other things..

Basically "It is what It Is" and we have to deal with it. Our local tricare office under no circumstance's will allow us to go to a civilian Orthopedic Doctor.
So now I am calling the specialties clinic every day, to see if we can get Senior an earlier appointment then Mid- December. Today he is taking MAMA BEARS advice and picking up some of that Blue-Emu sore pain rub.  I hope that helps him a bit.

So please" "fingers crossed" and lots of prayers for us.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two kids, two different schools...two days of Thanksgiving Luncheons. Which I thought both were on the same day so therefore I missed one of the luncheons. Little ND got in the car with tears in his eyes because his mommy and daddy were not at the luncheon.
OMG---"Was that today? I thought it was tomorrow the same day as your brothers" ?
"Nooooooo !!!!   Every other parent was there"
" Oh holy cow! "
Now I am the worst mother in the world!

This is what happens when schools don't keep proper communication with parents. I was not the only one thinking both lunches were on the same day.

So, Today Senior and I are making it up to him, we are bringing him lunch at school....   : )
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Another community wide garage sale is tomorrow. I am going through every thing. And what does not get sold, gets donated !   I do and don't like garage sales, the economic times trickles down and people want you to just give your stuff away.  It does get frustrating....
We are doing something different with the boys though, we are letting them take charge of what they want to sale and they can keep the money they make.
And kids are funny because now that  I am putting stuff in a staging area, it suddenly becomes important..even though it has not been played with for a year.

Now I must get back to going through closets, and cleaning out toy boxes...  Even Senior is going through his stuff.....

Happy Friday All!

Saturday

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a fabulous time. But, like most of you we had too much food. The turkey soaked in apple juice was outstanding, very juicy and a big hit. So was the small ham we did. My yeast rolls turned out "So-So" I need to perfect them.
Yesterday was the infamous "black Friday" I ventured out at 5am, just to make a trip to Home Depot.Since selling my other one, we wanted a new Pre-lit tree. They were having them on sale for 59.00- multi colored LED, that also changed to white lights. They also had a work bench that Senior liked. So I got up and went. I got in the store, got what I wanted and got out. I was home and back in bed by 5:45am. And that was the extent of my Black Friday.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My brother and my GFIL made it here from NC. They have been together since April, and this is the first time for our family to meet her. She is a lovely lady, lots of fun and full of life. They go well together, and I hope in her my brother finds the happiness he has searched for but with all the wrong people.
My brother and I never had a good relationship growing up, finally after his second divorce we got close, and became the friends we never were. He comes to town now and stays at my house. His company is always welcome and fun. He likes to bring his dog, her name is Sasha and she is a Whippet. I feel sorry for her, she was bought during my brothers second marriage, and has been moved around a lot. I wish so much for him to give her to us, so she can have a stable home.
My brother told us on Thanksgiving he has taken a contract in Spokane, WA. GFILs family is all out there and they are moving from NC in January.  This news brought tears to my eyes and has deeply depressed me. My brother has always lived far away,  but since he has been in NC he has been able to jump in his truck and drive home. Now, with this move he won't be able to do that.  We will be lucky to see him once a year. And for sweet Sasha, it will be yet another move..
I will miss him being close.   : (     I think I need a hug.
As per the instruction of  MAMA BEAR, I soaked my turkey in apple juice for a good 24 hours. Then prepared it for roasting on a bed of celery, carrots and onions. It is now cooking, and the house smells heavenly.
Senior got up, and after I some how lost the bushing to the wheat grinder, he fixed it and now I am making fresh yeast rolls for dinner...Gosh I love that Man!  My dad said there was no way I could make my own yeast rolls...some times he can be real coot. Its my first time doing them, so I am sure hoping they come our great and he can literally eat his words-I will let you all know !
Again, enjoy your day everyone !
Update of Seniors Dad and Other tidbits...
Thank you all for the well wishes for Seniors dad. Unfortunately his blood platelets were too high and they could not do the surgery. So we are on hold right now. Not sure when the operation will take place , or when Senior will be home.      I miss him. : (
My sister said the Dr's. may want to wait another week to see if the platelet count goes up.
So that is the update, and that is where we stand.
The weather has again turned gloomy. The sun promises to return by Thanksgiving. One can only hope.
Today I worked more on the large mulch job for one of our communities. I loaded, poured, and spread 28 bags of red Cyprus mulch. Mostly around the trees by a retention pond. As I was working my way down the tree line it occurred to me that I was soon to run out...I got (at that time) 22 bags, I began counting...the helper person shorted me..  I took my handy receipt and went back..they were nice and told me to take the missing bags, plus I needed even more bags. I hate it when I either leave shopping bags in a store, or I get shorted by the person loading my truck up.
Then I came home, cranked up Seniors commercial hedge trimmers and trimmed our hedges, then I cranked up one of the blowers that always gives me a hard time and blew the debris off the driveway and walk way. Normally I end up flooding them out. But today I got them both on the first pull: "I AM WOMAN ...HEAR ME ROAR"!  I felt so darn accomplished.
My neighbor across the street was leaving, she came over to chat for a few minutes. Depression set in when she told me she and her husband had signed a contract to have a new home built.  : (    She is a good friend and you don't always get lucky with neighbors that are like family. In 6 months they will be going.  : (
Today I got the surprise that school is closed on Wednesday. So I called the Parents.. " Want the boys to spend the night" ?  they were all to ready to have them stay over. I need  the time to clean house for Thanksgiving. Sunday I tried and every 15 minutes it was either a fight, or someone wanted something. and that was with a movie on. Besides, I could use the break.  Movie and popcorn here I come.
Off Blogger for now, time to go start dinner, and await more news from Senior..
Sunday...
It is Sunday, got up..made coffee. and Big breakfast for the men in my life. Senior left a bit ago for South Carolina. I started missing him the moment he drove off.
His dad is having an outpatient surgery in the morning, so if its not too much to ask, keep them in your prayers.
Yesterday after I sold the Christmas Tree, we headed to the Navy Commissary to begin purchasing the necessities for Thanksgiving dinner. I bought a medium sized Tom Turkey, and I am also doing a small ham. I am not a big turkey fan It usually ends up getting wasted in our house.
As I am trying to coordinate dinner with the rest, I for once would like some different items for a change. It seems like holiday meals are always a re-run of all the years previous, and its monotonous.
My comments fall on deaf ears. everyone will make the same things they have always made-it is like playing the same bad video over and over.  After all, it seems like we were just here, Didn't we just have the holidays?
The sun has finally decided to show up. First time since probably last Tuesday. I forgot what it looked liked and wondered what that bright thing in the sky was. We are even having blue skies.
but the wind is still there and it is still a bit chilly out.
I have much to do around the house before every one starts to arrive on Wednesday. I have the boys quiet and entertained with a STAR WARS movie. We have 4 of them saved on the DVR, and today they are a life saver. My Senior is not here to occupy them..so our baby sitter Master Yoda will. They are in the movie, wearing their little Jedi Capes, and holding light sabers, they are ready to fight for the rebel forces.
So now I must end this post, and start to getting things cleaned up and organized. I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday.
MIA
I know its been a couple of days since I have posted. Sorry. Things happen...Life happens. You all know how it is...
Senior and I had a very large mulch job to do for a client, then I had a bit of the whole bronchitis thing for a couple of days.
Sunday he leaves for South Carolina..his dad is have an out patient surgery done.
So it will be me and the boys for a few days. But we will be busy. Due to extra company for Thanksgiving, every one is coming to our house.  I really don't mind it, I love to entertain. The guys will go out in to the sun room to watch football, and we girls will sit in the living room, gossipping and going through black friday sale ads.
My brother is coming this year with a new lady friend. I have talked to her a few times, and she is a FB friend. She is from Baton Rouge, LA and I like her. Which worries me..when ever our family likes a girl he brings home, he ends up breaking off the relationship-my brother has fears when we actually get a long with people
I discovered  the coolest thing on FB. Virtual garage sales. I sold the christmas tree I found by a curb on there. Now I am constantly on the site, and looking around now through the house a what all I can post for sale.
New safe is here. its big. But I like it. More safety features then our previous one. Now I need to sell the previous one....   : )
Weather here is crummy, suppose to be like this till at least Sunday. Lots of clouds, infrequent misty rain.  I know the sun is up there some where. Havent seen it in days. But I do love this weather...makes it feel more seasonal and fall out. Of course and just in time for Thanksgiving, it will warm up and we will probably be wearing shorts and flip flops that day..
Okay off here now...Till later....
