Sunday...

The coffee is strong this morning. The sun is breaking through a fine layer of fog. It feels like April but the calendar say January. My roses think its spring time and sprouting new buds. Even the trees are starting with fresh blooms.
It is supposed to continue here for the next week. And by next Friday be more seasonable..what ever seasonable actually means anymore.

Mosin is growing. He seems a bit taller. My patience with him has been tried and tested this past week. But I have to keep reminding myself that he is just a baby and learning.

He likes to nip at Ruger. Mosin, being a Dobie has a much different attitude then Ruger, who is a Boxer. Ruger is  a big baby. If a bad guy came in the house, he would probably lick him to death.  Mosin likes to jump at and try to bite him in the neck. Finally Ruger has  started to fight back...

I like this picture because it looks like Ruger is reminding Mosin who is the oldest and just who is the Alpha Male in the house:

Our Sunday is up and running. Dinner with neighbors later. I am making my famous Mac and Cheese and  Brownies..there are chores to do around the house. I hope you all have a blessed Sunday.

I would rather be cautious, then a statistic

The doorbell rings at 0900. I look through the peep hole. There he is standing on our doorstep, cigarette in mouth, belly hanging out, work belt in hand. I am caught off guard as we are not expecting anyone.

"Can I help you"? I ask, through the door.
"Ma'am I am here to change your meter on the side of the house"
" I didn't get any sort of notification of this" I answer
"well, we have been around doing every one in your neighborhood" he said
"look I can't talk to you through the door, can you open up "?

Okay, this is where I stop to think..First off, we got no notice, and second I haven't seen squat going on in our neighborhood. I am  not opening the door to some stranger, no way NOT ME. Every possible scenario blazes through my mind.  Ruger is at my side, and the Mosin, well, he is in the sun room stretched out napping..

I tell the guy to wait, and yell for Senior..

Now during this time I notice him in our front yard pacing, shaking his head and smoking. Ruger is giving him the stare down through the window. His frustration is mounting, I am sure I've been called every name in the book, he shakes his head and stalks off moving to the next house.

We call the power company, and yes indeed the story checks out. They are updating the residential meters. They said they emailed and sent a letter out in December- I clearly never saw it, and have gone through all the old emails and there was no mention of the work. Nor did I find a letter.

Anyways, as of yet the worker has not returned and I doubt he will. I hope the power company sends some one else out to replace our meter. Senior said he was happy with my reaction, and too bad if the guy is ticked off..he will just have to get over it..

My Day At The Blood Doctor

I am not one to get people all worried over nothing, but some of my recent routine blood work came back with a bit of a high white cell count. My primary care doctor decided I should go to a hematologist for some further testing. Those who knew were of course Senior, my sister, my parents and my good friend K. My mother with her dementia problems, thought I was headed to a early grave, and had her entire church praying for me. So to egg my mother on...Last week when they came over, I took this beautiful lavendar sequin gown out of my closet and told her to make sure I am buried in it..   : ) --Yea Priceless

Over the weekend I got a huge packet of paperwork to fill out. I take it with me to the appointment today. Once in the room the nice little nurse is taking my vitals, she starts asking all the same questions, that I had just answered in the packet of paperwork. Then she says, "You must be a new patient"

Then comes time to be stuck by the lab. Where once again I get the same nurse. That is when I am told she is not a nurse but a student. And she  has a big problem finding my vein. "OUCH!"  apparently we did not put the needle in far enough. I had to get re-stuck by the professional. Now I have some nice red marks on my arm..  Those results have since come back, and now I need more blood work done..this time to test my Iron and B12 levels. The hematologist found those a bit concerning.

Once I left, it was off to Chinamart, for some chicken breast and white rice. Mosins tummy is upset.
At the register I see a nice older lady. Looked to be really well kept, and clean. Nice clothes, and her nails done. She was purchasing a bunch of bananas, high dollar international teas, and some International liquid coffee creamer...but paying with her EBT card.  "Great!" I thought. I am paying for her coffee creamer.. but atleast she has nice nails. I just stared her down and shook my head.

I checked our mailbox..My good buddy KELLY sent a gift:  Strike anywhere matches..super cool! THANKS KELLY!  I shall test them out soon. She put them in a nice little pint size mason jar..they look to cute to use..  : )

So I am  home, dealing with the puppies upset tummy. Last day of winter break for the kids, then its school tomorrow, so we go back to our routine. I will be so thankful to be back on a schedule. and a day to myself to clean this house up!   : )

We Got A New Mosin....

Well we have been kicking the idea around a while, and the opportunity presented itself.
We have a Ruger, now we have a Mosin..  being the gun lovers we are..what else would we name him!

He is 3.3/4 months old
Doberman Pinscher
and because of his age, the breeder all ready did all vaccines, thats right! We don't have to
get anything more done. Unless we want his ears cropped and have him neutered. We got to meet both his parents, and I must say, his daddy was 105lbs and incredibly impressive.  Very well behaved, and super sweet.

We were initially thinking a smaller breed. And I liked some of the terriers I saw. But Senior has wanted a Dobie for ever.
And Ruger was actually suppose to be a dobie, but at the time, The boys were really small, and I wanted a breed that I knew was incredibly kid friendly.

After just one day, I am seeing that Mosin, is a real hoot and a kid himself. He loves Ruger, loves running and playing with the boys,
and has all ready been swatted a few times by Jack the Cat.

My letter to Dianne Feinstein...

So this morning my good buddy RED WOMAN had a nice post with a video about us ladies and our right to own guns.  Carrie Lightfoot from The Well Armed Woman is asking us girls to basically ban together, get educated and show our intelligence. . Carrie and Red Woman are urging us girls and every one else to write our representatives and Dianne a letter..I urge you all to do the same, Ms. Feinstein does promise that each and every one will be read.  Below is my letter. Of course I could have said more. But currently I am devoid of coffee

www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/e-mail-me

Dear Senator Feinstein,

I as a stay at home mom, mother and wife would like to know why you think the people of this great country have no right to carry a gun for personal defense?

Why is it okay for our politicians to have round the clock protection, but we the people can't?
Why is it acceptable for the Presidents daughters to go to a school with 11 armed guards but our kids can't have that same sort of protection?
Politicians like yourself are hypocrites..You want to take away our rights, but yet you keep them for yourselves.

Gun bans only hurt the law abiding gun owners of this country like myself. It does nothing for the criminals. If there is a will, there is a way. After all Ms. Feinstien, Cain killed Able with a rock. If you want to ban guns, then you also need to start legislation to ban rocks. How many died this week from alcohol related accidents? Where is the ban on alcohol and vehicles?

And last, lets not forget that terrorist hijacked planes with nothing more then box cutters, and committed mass murder by flying planes into  buildings. I have yet to see a ban on box cutters. In fact, Home depot sells them in bulk packs. And people still fly every day..where is the ban on airplanes? Like I stated..where there is a will, there is a way.

Should you need additional information about the Congress, or my offices in Washington and California, please visit my homepage on the World Wide Web. The address is http://feinstein.senate.gov.

Thank you again for contacting me, and I hope you will continue to do so in the future"

Re-Organization

Yesterday was New Years Day..Seniors South Carolina Gamecocks won the "Outback Bowl" I am hoping Senior will tell us to get dressed so we can go to Outback Steakhouse for dinner, since the Gamecocks won, they are giving away free Bloomin Onions for today only.

 And last night my Florida State Seminoles took it to the house against Northern Illinois. Who, in my mind had no idea even being at the Orange Bowl. So what ! they won their division but, It was said by the commentators they had the easiest schedule in College football. It also did not pay for their QB, a kid named Lynch to run his mouth about the Seminole Defense..they showed him what a real team is like.  : )
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well yesterday we decided to move and reorganize our food storage. It is all now in my kitchen. It makes more sense for me to have it in there. I am working on putting up curtains in front of it as a panel.
We loaded everything in buckets, the super large cans the kids rolled across the floor. We stacked cans on the table, chairs and counter tops.
It took better part of the afternoon, but Under Seniors leadership he instructed us like a bunch of
 " boots" and we got it done.
Of course this is only a portion, we don't like to keep our eggs in one basket of course.  However, we are starting to get away from the heavy canned items, and now ordering dehydrated foods. In a bug out situation, it is lighter in weight and just makes more sense for us. We had a large number of canned things that would not have been eaten prior to the expiration date, so I went through everything and made a large donation to a local church's food bank. Of course they were extremely grateful. It was a win-win, I got rid of some things, made room for more, and helped a good cause all in one.
HAP'PY HAP'PY HAP'PY New Year !
Its 2013, and we all partied hard last night. A couple glasses of wine for me, beer for Senior. The boys over did it a bit on the Apple Juice.
The fire in the pit was hot, and I had pigs n a blanket and mozzarella cheese sticks for our New Years Snack.
Our boys were purely bent on staying up till Midnight to watch the ball drop in Times Square. They had never seen that before. So it was more Star Wars, this time "Return of the Jedi" ...that is three nights in a row for me. I feel like I am super qualified now to fly the millennium falcon.
We of course watched the festivities on FOX. Then to my delight,  My Girl Pat Benatar performed.She can still rock it. And looks gorgeous. ND and NW looked at mommy like she was nuts singing "Heartbreaker" with the TV.   : )
The boys started getting whiny..They were tired and it was showing..but no way were they going to bed. Then we had the countdown..and screamed "HAPPY NEW YEAR".
I think within 5 minutes of getting under the covers they were both passed out.And slept in until 1030. They never do that.
So now its 2013,I just commented over on Robs Ramblings that I think we should all be saying "Happy Scary New Year" instead. This time last year I was thrilled it being 2012, it was an election year and I was excited at the prospect of BO getting voted out..well, we all know how that turned out.
The only thing I look forward to this year is my faith, family and friends...
Thanks for following my little blog, and hearing my rants..Thanks for sharing in my good times, and being supportive through my rough patches.You are all another family to me, and some of the best friends ever.  God Bless You all in 2013...
