A little bit of this and A little bit of that...

It's Wednesday. I have been a bit under the weather which is why I have not posted much these past couple of days. But, Now I am feeling much better.
It has been very hot here, afternoon storms kick up and provide much needed rain and a lightening show for us.
The other day after dinner, I mustered the energy to go out to the beach with Senior and the boys. First time this summer. Moo-Moo can't believe we have not been yet...but as I told her.. "ummm I have a life"...lol

This morning I saw something I have never seen. I had taken the dogs out, and saw a bee flying around my cucumbers, it landed on one of the blooms and did what bees do to flowers.
Which leads me to my next question. The other day I was buying some local honey for my dad.
but, there were so many types.  I picked one that said "wildflower".   What is the difference?

Saturday we got to meet my nieces Fiance, he is a really nice guy. We like him. How in the world My niece hooked him is beyond us!.  That same day I also worked up a trade. I traded my Ruger 10/22 for a compound bow. I know I probably got the short end of the deal, but I grew up with the family of the young man I traded it too, he is supporting a young wife, and 2 small children, and could not afford to buy something that nice out right.   But, now I need to get my new bow a tune up and adjusted for me. He had it at 55#s pull, and that is a bit too much for me.
Senior is getting a "diamond" brand. It comes in the mail today..he is "Over the moon" excited about it too.

Today I am on the search for boxes, another community garage sale is this weekend. the proceeds we make will go to giving my Cherokee a tune up, and changing of his fluids. My goal is to out right sale my Subaru to carmax, and drive the Cherokee a while. How long the while will be I am not sure, but I am hoping to cut in to some of our debt, and this is one way to accomplish that- We will flip that car payment and put that money on something else so we can pay that item down faster.
 Then when we see where Senior will land a job in logistics, we will go from there with the purchase of another vehicle and keep the Cherokee as our "fun/ project" car.   We have been looking at the Nissan Xterras...and No way will I buy anything new..

Now that we have the formalities out of the way, my hubby  at his blog: SENIOR'S MESS did an outstanding post last night about our Excel Food Prep list that we use. He meticulously developed it and did a in depth post on the subject. I recommend you check it out if you want to get your food preps better organized. Its always nice to  know what exactly what you have and for how many days.

Hurricane Sandy is off our coast and we are enjoying cloudy skies and wind. I do pray for those folks in the mid-Atlantic and northeast who are in her sights. They say a 100 year storm is in the making. Stock up and get prepared now.
So with our weather today being kind of crummy, Senior and I took off to the gun range. It has been a little while since our last day there, and he has been wanting to try out the new Blackout 300 he built.

UPDATE: Iron Maiden Project Pt. 2

We finally got all the parts in for the build. First item received was the ATI 6 position collapsible folding composite stock, with cheek piece. Second was the Pro-Mag extended height piccatiny rail, center portion of the rail is hollowed out to allow for use of the iron sights. Third item is a 4x32 scope, and finally we got a OD green neoprene sling.

Barrel and receiver assembly was removed from a Ruger 10/22 walnut stock, simple tools were used for the build, a Phillips and flat head screwdriver and 2 Allen wrenches.

The build took less time then it did for us to can 6 quarts of corn.

Project "Iron Maiden"

Being the metal head that he is and thanks to the song: "Run To The Hills" by Iron Maiden, Senior has had an idea to build a .22 survival rifle. However with the inflated cost of the Springfield M6 Scout, and an original Armalite M7 Survival Gun and  Henry's  version of the AR-7 survival gun. He thinks the best platform to build a survival gun is the Ruger 10/22. Ruger does have a new version of the 10/22 that breaks apart at the receiver and barrel for placement in a back pack or to take camping. It is a good idea that Ruger has, but in my opinion its TMMP ( too many moving parts).

Numerous other bloggers have posted about this gun, including myself. There is no doubt of the quality and durability of this gun. And the numerous accessories that are available for it.

His initial plan is a bone stock 10/22 with a Butler Creek Folding Stock with 3 accessory rails toward the end of the front sight.
What we would like to know from my readers are what other accessories would be good to add to this project and your reasoning.
