Darn the Luck...

The monsoon rain came racing in just as I entered the concession stand for duty last night...
it poured by the bucket full, lightening, hail and high wind. The league president cancelled all games...which means once again I got out of concession stand duty..
One of my friends looked at me and said " You are about the luckiest SOB there is"

Currently my record stands at  1-3 for the dreaded concession stand work. It usually rains us out, except the one time during fall ball.
If you have a child in little league...it is expected that you volunteer your time at least once during the season;  to slop nacho cheese on to chips and fries, and serve up grease burgers to the masses. I have two in the league, so you can imagine what is expected of me.

But mother nature had other plans-"Darn the Luck!"  I hate it when that happens!
Our team is scheduled for next Tuesday night as well....let's see if the trend continues.

Went out this morning to take a look at NWs colossal cabbage he brought home from school in February, At that time I sent Senior into a garden store to see if they had more in. The Clerk told him "No" it was a fall crop and they would not grow during the time of year I planted it.

So me being well, ME !....I planted it anyways.

Well this was the day we planted it back in Feb. :

Now this morning two months later:

"humph" what does some minimum. wage garden center clerk know.... Never underestimate the power of some good cow manure and my determination.

The Wedding Shower...

I wish I could say it went off well, and for the most part it did...Except for the 830am phone call from my dad saying that mom was sick with the flu and could not make it...I would believe that if for the fact of :

#1. She did not do this all the time- it was half expected from my sister and I. And
# 2. She did not sit across from me at the Easter dinner table, voicing her concerns and disdain over going....

I understand my mothers mental state, when she gets out of her comfort zone she freaks. But this day was special , a lot of planning and money was spent to make it a success and it would have been nice for my mother to be there and share in it with her grandaugter. *sigh*

I ordered a cake from a local baker. She is so sought after and such an amazing artist that I had to call her in February to hire her for the last weekend in April. She created a tropical carrot cake with pastel pink and green fondet. It was beautiful, and killed my niece to run a knife through it.

.

The afternoon ended up on a lovely note,we played wedding games, and ate some great food. The happy couple received some very nice gifts for their new home. Her Great Aunt went over and above and gave her this large basket filled with bathroom items...

When she got to the picture I did for them, she teared up and passed it around for every one to see. It was a hit and she loved it!.
*sigh* now I am glad it is over, next up for the weekend of May 17 is the wedding...then saying goodbye as the newlyweds move to another state. So many changes this year for my family.......

My Seeds Have Sprouted...

Yea, Yea, Yea...okay so I have been MIA again. I am working my way around blogger to get caught up with what you have all been doing lately.
Sunday was Easter and THANK YOU all for the wonderful Easter wishes..I hope you and your families had a fabulous and blessed day.

Last Friday Senior had to head up to the Carolina estate to check on some stuff...when he got there he sent me this pic:

That would be my rows of sunflowers and onions that we planted are coming up. We go up again next weekend and I can't wait to see it.

The nieces wedding shower is Saturday....*sigh*  Yes I am ready for it to come and go and be in the history book. We are now T-Minus 23 days until the happy couple says "I DO"  ND and NW are ring bearers, and we have bribed them with money, to say "EWWW Disgusting" when the kiss is done...

My wedding gift is the shower of course. But, I also went to the beach Tuesday morning and did this pic, I had it blown up and framed. A friend of mine has one similar on her wall and I have always liked it :

Let me tell you what a pain in the rear end it was to time the wave action before it washed over the lettering. I did one with our name on it too....

Wednesday night was turmoil in our house, the boys and I were out bike riding and little ND had a huge spill--the first of many I presume. Now he has a nice scraped up knee, and left elbow. My poor baby...so mommy and daddy patched him up and sat him on the couch with a orange popsicle.
Funny, how the next day he was all proud of his new "Boo-Boos" at school- kind of like bragging about battle wounds....lol

Easter Sunday Blessings

Easter blessing to all of my blogger family. I get amazed every time I think of the crucifixion, and the kind of Love that Jesus has for us. Who takes that kind of punishment so that we won't have to?
Jesus did though. I thank him every day for what he did for saving us.

Prayers for all of you and your families on this beautiful Easter Sunday.....

Blood Moon and other Oddities

Don't faint...its me writing a post!    Still helping with our company but with  todays Blood Moon I could not resist a post. So I have taken time out of shoveling mulch to do one. I am a lover of all things celestrial, and with weather permitting here tonight I hope to wake up and get a glimpse...

Senior and I  were driving this morning to the mulch dealer, and I told him this entire week is a Palindrome.... Each date this week can be written symmetrically backwards. I was explaining this to the boys today, and got some very odd looks. Have you ever tried explaining what a palindrome is to a 7 year old? He thought it was some sort of skating rink.

I also reminded Senior that it is a Blood Moon tonight,  It is the first of four that will be spread out in six month intervals over the next year and  all four will be visible in the USA.   And, that it will be on Passover. All four fall on important Jewish dates, and so have previous blood moons.  Then I mentioned all the recent earthquakes, and that Mars and Earth are in alighnment this week and Senior Shivered...
