When it Rains....

When it rains, sometime it just doesn't rain...its a monsoon.  That is at least how Senior and I are feeling. Seniors dad two weekends ago, went  in to the VA hospital for some minor issues. Now he is back in the hospital and Senior is having to go back and forth. With his college courses, obligations here at home, and running up to SC every few days, it has been rough to say the least on him and us.
He wanted me to pass on that if you follow his blog : SENIORS MESS  to not delete him..he will be back with a post soon.

Now, while all this is going on, Our oldest NW got a cold last week and fever. I kept him from school Thursday, fever broke and I felt all was well. He woke up Friday morning complaining of leg cramps, he had no fever and I felt he was okay to go. Around Noon, his teacher called..the pain in his legs was worse and he was limping and walking slow. I got him home and he was back running a fever..so i dosed him with Motrin and put him to bed. He woke up Saturday morning crying from the pain. so I took him to our local ER. They put him through an xray and extensive blood work. And it turned out, he had a viral muscle inflammation known as Myositis. I was perplexed..how in the world did our son get this?  The ER doctor felt the best course of action would be to transport him to the Children's Hospital where they see this condition more frequently and have better facilities to handle it.
So, NW took an ambulance ride, which he thought was totally cool.

We get checked in to his little room--fluids started. He had to spend the night. I was not prepared for seeing my little boy hooked up to tubes and laying in a hospital bed. Poor fella had to pee every few minutes as the IV was flushing his system. He stayed the night, and was doted on by cute little nurses. They gave him a Nintendo game system to play on, and brought lots of gator-aid to drink. Senior and ND came to visit. Lots of friends gave us words of encouragement, but it was actually the one words of an elderly lady that I will not forget. ND and I left the hospital in search of dinner. We went to the deli counter of a grocery store and the lady making our sub sandwiches noticed we both looked exhausted. I told her the circumstances, she asked our sons name and promised to remember him in her prayers that night. I will not forget her kindness.

 While we ate ND told us about the opening day of baseball, and how well he played in his first
 T-Ball game. Poor NW just had to listen. He wants so bad to be running on the field with his baseball team..but that needs to wait a bit.
His levels of this virus dropped and they sent us home. Now he is recuperating and out of school until next week. ..

So, with all that has been going on in our family you can only imagine the level of stress we have been under. It all got to me yesterday and I broke down crying while watching Senior pack  so he could head back up to SC.
The good news is NW is home and doing much better, he is walking now and playing. He will be okay.
Seniors dad though is in need of prayers as he is still in the hospital. Currently we don't know what is all going to happen. It is a very complex issue.... 
But, we are a strong family, and have lots of support. And with Faith in God, we will get through this

Microchips

Does this scare you? because it should. I knew this was coming. a few years back when I worked on base, I heard it rumored. The idea was to store service and health records on the chips and install it in the wrist of the service member.  One girl I worked with was all for the idea, she and I argued constantly over it. She said it would end tons of paperwork and red tape. All a doctor would have to do is scan a persons wrist and their entire medical history would be displayed. She thought that was "Awesome". 
I think that bad things start off with the best of intentions....

Now, it seems this idea is coming to  fruition, after all we have been doing our animals for years. If this is accepted by the military, then the thinking is the general public will as well.

Isn't this the goal though?

Lets Also Ban...

Since folks in our school systems are freaking out over anything that resembles a firearm in this country, then we also need to ban every thing on the list below.
What is this world coming to when a kid can't even eat a pop tart with out being suspended for it ?
Pretty  soon my kids are going to need a "PTCP" (Pop tart carry permit)

We need to remove the states of Florida, Idaho and Oklahoma  from our schools before its too late. We need to also shut down the entire block of "Sesame Street" which will be brought to you buy the Assault letters "L and K". I never thought learning the alphabet was so dangerous.

And dang it if I ever let a nurse use an assault thermometer on me or my family ever again!. The school nurse used one on NW yesterday, what kind of  mother am I for allowing that to happen?

It became clear to me that I am now a felon after stepping out of the shower and using my illegal hair dryer this morning
Noticeably not on the list are the deadly Nerf and Water guns...My lord! you can put an eye out with those things!

Anger Management for Ammo Purchases

Is this idiocy in this country with our elected officials ever going to stop? Anger management courses for people buying ammo?  Again some idiotard politician trying to pass a bill that would hurt the law abiding gun owner. It will do nothing for the criminal.

Who is going to give courses to Homeland Security and other Government agencies for their bulk ammo purchases?
This is one reason why it is hard to find ammo, our government is buying it all up. Over the next 4-5 years DHS is projected to purchase more then 1.6 billion rounds. This is the equivalence of 5 bullets for every person in our country. They say its for training purposes and for agents on duty.
Call me a conspiracy theorists or not, but I believe something more sinister is at play...

My Sisters Patient

My sister is a sweet Godly woman. She has had many health issues in her life, but always keeps smiling and her faith in God helps her through all the pain she faces. She is a hero to me.
To keep active, she volunteers at her neighborhood hospital in the patient services department. There she satisfies her call to help others.

In recent weeks I have had several profound conversations with her on firearms. I have been encouraging her to take up the sport and start shooting. It is a great stress relief and a way to learn defense skills. Besides, there is nothing more empowering to me then shooting.

Her area of town is becoming increasingly bad with an abundance of gang related activities. One Saturday while picking up the boys from my parents, I witnessed just such an incident while approaching a corner stop sign. I carefully unzipped my purse and had my hand on my Glock. This happend a few streets away from both my sisters and parents house. Therefore I stay consistantly worried about my family.

So , today while she is sitting behind her information desk, a female  uniformed officer came in to ask for some basic directions. She has spoken to my sister before and complemented her today on how sweet and loving she is to every one, then asked if she could offer some advice. My sister said "Sure" This  Police officer, told my sister that their town along with the rest of the country is getting out of control. Crime is running wild, and she encouraged my sister to learn some self defense. My Sister told the officer of the conversations she and I have had in the past, and how I have offered to help teach her to shoot. The female officer told my sister that is about the best thing she could do. My sister went on though to explain her fear of firearms. The officer said that she too had once felt the same way, until she entered the academy. "There"she said, "they started us off with small caliber arms until we grew more confident".

 I have told my sister that is what I would do for her if and when she does go shooting with me.
I told her we would start off with a .22 pistol, she said she would buy the ammo. I jokingly said "If you can find it"  she thought I was kidding.   She thought it was just something local, until I told her our brother was in a Cabelas in Idaho, and texted me a picture of the ammo shelves...completely bare.

So, we are setting a range date some time in the next couple of weeks. I am excited over the prospect of sharing with my sister the wealth of knowledge I have inherited from Senior, Stephen, and Duke, and all the rest of my blogging buddies. 

And I promise to keep you all updated on the subject, I am sure I will hit you all up for advice and insight.

The Bible Miniseries.....

History channel has done it again. They have brought History back to life with the new 10 hour mini series
"The Bible"   It premieres tonight at 8pm est  On (of course) The History Channel.
I really am excited about this series and plan to record it, so the boys can watch it as well...
 So if your TV provider offers this channel I hope you all take time out, and watch it. From watching the trailer the effects look amazing and it seems very well directed and produced.

Our weather here is nasty, cold dreary, and windy. I will make this post short as I am being plagued by a headache..this wind is a killer and currently it is killing my head. My Senior is smoking ribs for dinner- for his labor I made him a big breakfast of bacon, eggs and grits. And with the Ribs I am making his favorite: Macaroni and Cheese. I might even throw in some walnut brownies for dessert.
The forecasters said the wind would not be as bad as yesterday..but what do they know?  Nothing!
I can deal with cold weather, I can deal with cloudy skies..but this wind..it needs to stop...

It is a good day here to stay indoors as much as possible, be a couch potato and watch a movie or work on crafts....

I am curious..If one of your neighbors did this. What would you do?

Knowing Senior and I, we would probably just go get a bigger NRA sticker. Or do a covert mission one night, and plaster the persons car with Pro-Gun stickers....
